[F1] Hamilton Gets Podium Finish; Rosberg Retires in Chinese Grand Prix

A strong qualifying session turned into a mixed performance for the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team at the 2013 Chinese Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton managed to finish third for back-to-back podium finishes (he also finished third in Malaysia), but teammate Nico Rosberg had to retire on lap 22 because of a suspension problem. Fernando Alonso of Scuderia Ferrari took home the win, and by a comfortable margin, too. He was 10.168 seconds ahead of second-placer Kimi Raikkonen. Hamilton Takes Pole in Chinese GP Qualifying

Lewis Hamilton showed off more of Mercedes’ potential this season as he claimed the pole position for Mercedes AMG Petronas at the qualifying session for the 2013 Chinese Grand Prix. F1: Lewis Hamilton and His Malaysian GP Pit Stop Gaffe

Lewis Hamilton scored his first podium finish for the Mercedes AMG Petronas team on Sunday at the 2013 Malaysian Grand Prix, incidentally the team’s home race. While the newcomer had a great race overall, he did have one funny moment on the circuit. On his first pit stop, a tire change in Lap 8, the former McLaren driver actually went into the McLaren pit stop box, which many of course found amusing. Malaysian GP: Mercedes’ Hamilton P4, Rosberg P6 on Starting Grid

Mercedes AMG Petronas continued to roll at the start of the 2013 Formula One season, getting a solid performance in qualifying at the Malaysian Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton managed to snag P4, while Nico Rosberg will start at P6 on the grid tomorrow. Rosberg actually paced Q2 with his 1:36.190, but couldn’t really sustain that pace in the third and final round. With a fairly good performance in the season-opening Australian Grand Prix last weekend, those at the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team has to feel good  about themselves. Of course, it was a mixed bag with Lewis Hamilton taking fifth despite a lack of pace and Nico Rosberg being forced to retire midway through because of electrical problems. Hamilton 5th in Australian GP; Rosberg Fails to Finish

Lewis Hamilton managed to finish fifth at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, proving that Mercedes AMG Petronas can be a force in this year’s Formula One competition. However, teammate Nico Rosberg became the third retirement for the day after electrical problems forced him off with 32 laps still remaining in the race. Kimi Raikkonen was in good form to start the 2013 season, winning the race a good 12-plus seconds ahead of second-placer Fernando Alonso. Defending champion Sebastian Vettel joined them on the podium, and Alonso’s teammate Felipe Massa finished ahead of Lewis Hamilton.
