MGP W02 to Grace Top Gear Festival

The Top Gear Festival that will be held in Durban, South Africa on June 16-17 is going to get some Formula One action as the car used by Mercedes AMG Petronas is set to take the road. The MGP W02, used in the 2011 Formula One season, will be demonstrating its capabilities in the event’s 2.4-kilometer street circuit. Rosberg Seventh, Schumacher DNF in Barcelona

Despite some strong practices and a very solid qualifying session, Mercedes AMG Petronas could not capitalize on its momentum heading towards Sunday’s race as Nico Rosberg managed to salvage a seventh-place finish while Michael Schumacher had to retire in lap 13 in the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix. Williams’ Pastor Maldonado emerged victorious from pole position in a race that saw everyone bumped up one spot after erstwhile pole position holder Lewis Hamilton was penalized for having insufficient fuel after qualifying and the McLaren-Mercedes driver ended up starting at the last spot on the grid. After strong showings in the practice sessions at the Circuit de Catalunya, Mercedes AMG Petronas was able to follow through with good performances in qualifying as Nico Rosberg is set to start at P7 and Michael Schumacher at P9 once the Spanish Grand Prix starts Sunday. Schumacher, Rosberg with Strong Showing in Friday Practice

It’s been a long wait for the resumption of Formula One action, but this weekend will bring a lot of excitement when the European leg of the 2012 season starts at Barcelona. Mercedes AMG Petronas delivered a strong showing in Friday practice, with both Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg building some momentum from the team’s testing at Mugello and then getting excellent results at the Circuit de Catalunya. Schumacher was great in Practice 1, notching sixth place at 1:25:187, while Rosberg was a mere 14th with 1:25:607. Mercedes F1 chief says no to new Concorde Agreement

Mercedes F1 Chief Executive Nick Fry has finally broken his silence amidst the Concorde Agreement deal being offered to the team. He refuses to sign it as talks with Bernie Ecclestone fail to gain traction. Fry believes that the F1 honcho is peddling chunkier offers to rivals Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari. Fry warns that “If CVC wish to float Formula 1, I think they need this resolved fairly quickly, possibly more than we need it resolved.” He also waters down rumors that Mercedes will be leaving Formula One. Mercedes Petronas and Starwood Hotels are Now Partners!

Michael Schumacher and Nick Fry announced the partnership deal between Starwood Hotels and Mercedes AMG Petronas team, which means that the team will stay in different Starwood hotels as they travel to different countries for the Grand Prix. Mercedes-Benz and its Team, AMG Petronas is serious in bringing the F1 world to the public, and every time they do that, they involve their world famous drivers. In this video for example, Nico Rosberg is showing how they drive inside the F1 Car. After you’ve watched the video, I bet you will learn that it is indeed a skill you need to learn for years before you can even maneuver and F1 car. Even seating inside is difficult enough; I mean it’s like you’re being operated on in a hospital! How much more difficult it is to move and avoid the other fast cars racing on your side?
