Spanish GP - Lewis Hamilton takes pole position

Lewis Hamilton edged out Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel to take pole position at the 2017 Spanish Grand Prix. It was close as it could be, with the Mercedes prevailing by only 0.051 seconds after setting a time of 1:19.149 versus 1:19.200 for the Ferrari. The other Mercedes car of Valtteri Bottas qualified in P3, while the other Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen took P4. After the spy shots of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class emerged while it was being tested in the Arctic Circle, a spy video of the pickup was taken in a public road near its maker’s facility in Germany. Compared to the earlier spy photos, the subject in the video is shedding a bit of its camouflage, which already reveal some of its styling elements such as the headlamps and taillamps as well as the radiator grille. Mercedes-Benz Ditches Diesel in the US for 2017

Mercedes-Benz is ditching its plans for diesel models in the United States of America this year. The move is due to the tight regulations set forth by the country’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) following the scandal in the diesel segment of the automotive industry back in 2015. According to Reuters, Daimler AG announced that Mercedes will not be seeking EPA certification for its diesel models at least for the current year. The decision of the automaker contradicts its earlier assurance that it will continue to sell diesel models in the U.S. alongside its rival BMW in the aftermath of the emissions scandal put into motion by Volkswagen.
