Mercedes swaps crew personnel for Rosberg and Hamilton

In a move that is expected to help the team, Mercedes has swapped around several members of its drivers’ crew personnel. There are several differences between the Silver Arrow cars this season. The decision was made by the team to swap number one mechanics for 2016. New personnel turnover also paved the way for other swaps. There are no changes to the engineering personnel, however. F1: Mercedes has spent 19 engine development tokens so far

Mercedes’ engine has dominated Formula One since the introduction of the new power unit setup, but it isn’t leaving stones unturned. The engine supplier has alerady spent 19 of the 32 engine development tokens allocated to it as per the new rules, second-most among engine builders heading into the season opener in Australia this weekend. The leading token-spender is Ferrari, the foremost challenger to the defending champs, the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team, this season. The prancing horse has spent 23 tokens to date, meaning the team only has 9 left to use for the remainder of the 2016 season. Mercedes says engines will be louder in 2016 F1 season

Because of revised F1 rules on exhausts, Mercedes AMG Petronas technical chief Paddy Lowe said that F1 cars are sure to be ‘significantly’ louder this upcoming 2016 season. Since the shift to the new power units, many fans and enthusiasts have complained that the sound you hear as an F1 car speeds by just isn’t the same anymore–and it’s not a very good change. Mercedes-Benz Museum Adds the Championship Cars of Hamilton and Wehrlein

The Mercedes-Benz Museum just added two vehicles in its collection. The new arrivals were the race cars of Lewis Hamilton from the 2014 Formula One season and the one used by Pascal Wehrlein in the current DTM season. These were the ones used by the two celebrated drivers en route to winning the Drivers’ World Championships in their respective sporting organizations. For the 2014 Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 W05 Hybrid and its successor, the cars were instrumental in giving the Mercedes F1 team the Constructors’ Championship on two occasions. The race cars brought Hamilton back-to-back world titles from 2014 to 2015 as well.
