Update on the next-generation C-Class

So yeah, the next C-Class will come in both coupe and convertible variants. In the gallery below, you’ll even get to peek at its interior. But how will the next C-Class Coupe fare against the two-door E-Class. Since the E-Class similarly is based on the current C-Class platform, it’ll be fun to see which of the two will be larger and performance-wise, which will be a lot more tempting to drive. A lot of questions are hanging on these two vehicle lineups, questions which will hopefully get some answers from the up-and-coming Paris Motor Show in France. Surely, you guys are wondering what the price tag will be and how… Continue Reading »

Next target: GAZ Gorky Automobile Plant in Russia

There aren’t so many fans of Russian made cars, perhaps not even in Russia. Still, there is one automotive manufacturer in the country that’s getting a lot of attention. GAZ, who currently manufacturers the Volga Siber at the Gorky Automobile plant (insert Wind of Change chorus here), is getting wooed by a lot of investors wanting to tap into the Russian market. Yep, you guessed it—Mercedes-Benz’s parent company Daimler wants in. And the company will stop at nothing to get the plant to producing the E-Class. And with good reason too. The Volga Siber is actually based on the Chrysler Sebring platform. As true-blooded Mercedes-Benz fans (you know you are),… Continue Reading »

E-Class awarded IIHS’ Top Safety Pick award for strong roof

So which car won this year’s Top Safety Pick? Well, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, it’s the Cadillac CTS and the Infiniti M, which are both very impressive in each of their own’s rights. With the competition very tough, it helps if the vehicle has the makings of a strong shell. Something that can survive a rollover while not necessarily being built like a tank. At the least, its roof has to have enough strength to as much as four times its own weight. Well, that is what clinched the award for the Cadillac and the Infiniti. Since this is Benz Insider, we’re assuming you’re wondering what… Continue Reading »

Susan Stoddart takes the E63 Estate for a dance

It’s not everyday that you see a full-sized family wagon being hooned–especially on a racetrack. In fact, you could say it’s an impossibility. It’s even less probable that you see one being pushed to its limits not by a male driver, but by a professional female racr. So therein lies the difference between Mercedes-Benz and other premium car manufacturers. They dare put their name and reputation at stake by doing the impossible. In this video, you’ll find out exactly what we’re talking about. It’s none other than pro-racing femme fatale Susie Stoddart behind the wheel of the latest E-Class Es63 Estate. And yes, those squeals you hear are the tires… Continue Reading »

New York 2010: The new E350 4Matic Wagon

It was somewhat of a surprise for the US market to finally get the 2011 E350 4Matic wagon, as it was previously announced by Mercedes that the said model will not be available in the states. The E350 Estate made its first appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year. The addition of the E-Class Estate has completed the mid size line up for Mercedes-Benz in the US today. Both the sedan and coupe share the same styling as the wagon except for that wagon rear end. Another surprise is the re-introduction of the pop out jump seats from the cargo area floor. The throwback or way back jump seats… Continue Reading »
