As of the moment, the unveiling of the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class at the Detroit Motor Show is getting everyone excited. That’s because aside from the sensual styling of the car and excellent choice of engine, it packs a lot of advanced technological features. One of them is the Car-to-X Communication function of the car.

Basically, the Car-to-X technology is another step closer to the development of autonomous cars. It is a smart feature that allows the communication of vehicles. As we have mentioned earlier, it offers a fast reporting of traffic conditions using the infotainment system of the E-Class. However, it is not an entirely new technological breakthrough of Mercedes as the existing European A-Class already has it.

The Car-to-X Communication tech certainly helps in enabling drivers to share information about their vicinity like accidents, bends, and other obstacles along the road. It will greatly help them warn each other if there are dangers in their way.

This simple illustration shows how the Car-to-X Communication technology of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class works.

For now, it should be noted that only the new E-Class has the feature. So once it rolls out, only the ones driving the said car can enjoy it. But for sure, the other models like the S-Class and the upcoming compact SUVs of the automaker will follow soon.

Among the other notable tech present in the 2017 E-Class are the Pilot Parking Assist, more advanced Multibeam LED headlamps, and Drive Pilot.
