F1: Mercedes Fails to Finish in Points in Indian GP

It was yet another dismal run for Mercedes AMG Petronas at the 2012 Indian Grand Prix, as both drivers failed to finish with championship points. Nico Rosberg was only able to finish 11th, while Michael Schumacher only managed to complete 55 of the 60 laps in the race. Meanwhile, it was Sebastian Vettel winning again, pulling away from Fernando Alonso, who finished second. Mark Webber went third, while the McLaren-Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button went fourth and fifth, respectively. Schumacher had to retire on lap 59, for precautionary reasons. He also had a problem with a rear right tire puncture on lap 1 after colliding with Jean-Eric Vergne…. Continue Reading »

F1: Mercedes Drivers Qualify in Top Ten for Korean GP

Mercedes AMG Petronas drivers Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher qualified at ninth and tenth, respectively, building on their momentum at the 2012 Korean Grand Prix. This is the ninth time this F1 season that both the drivers made it into the top ten on the grid. “Ninth place was the maximum that we could have achieved today,” said Rosberg. “We set up the car well but we’re lacking the performance to challenge any further towards the front. We’re working hard to improve the situation, and hopefully our race pace will be better and we can score some decent points here in Korea.” He added that the layout of the circuit… Continue Reading »

F1 Preview: Mercedes Gears Up for Korean Grand Prix

After a fairly solid run through the Friday practice of the 2012 Korean Grand Prix, the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team is in high spirits and should head into qualifying with a decent shot at good results. Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg combined for 112 laps through the Korea International Circuit without incident and managed to put in some aerodynamic development as well. Speaking after the Friday practice runs, Schumacher noted that the team should figure in the top 10 in qualifying and will work their strategy to suit this projection. “We have made some small changes, nothing major, and we looked ok on our long runs,” he added. “Of… Continue Reading »

F1: Schumacher 9th, Rosberg 10th on Grid in Singapore GP

Mercedes AMG Petronas drivers Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg managed to squeak into Q3 during the qualifying for the 2012 Singapore Grand Prix, but the team strategy called for them to stand pat and not go out for a lap so that they could get their choice of fresh tyres to start the race. That left the two on the fifth row, as Lewis Hamilton of McLaren-Mercedes blazed into pole position. The Mercedes team is going into the race with some improvements to the cars, although the team has admitted that optimizing the updates isn’t complete just yet. “We’ve made good progress over the weekend with our new aerodynamic package… Continue Reading »

The Singapore Grand Prix remains one of the most anticipated every year. Not only does it feed the F1 frenzy for Asian fans, it’s also unique in that it is the lone night race. Let’s check out what’s in store for the Mercedes AMG Petronas team once the lights on the Singaporean streets turn on for the race. F1: Mercedes with 6-7 Finish in Italian Grand Prix

Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg had a good showing at Monza, finishing 6th and 7th in the race, helping Mercedes AMG Petronas gain a bit of ground—although not too much—on Lotus in the constructors’ standings. McLaren-Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton claimed his first victory on this track, and he was followed by a surging Sergio Perez of Sauber and Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa of Ferrari in a race that saw the two Red Bull Racing cars retire. Nico Rosberg is still 7th in the drivers’ standings with 83 points, while Schumacher is at 11th with 43 points. Massa’s fourth-place finish bumped Schumi down one place and gives the Brazilian a… Continue Reading »
