Study says Chinese Mercedes-Benz owners are likely wealthy entrepreneurs

It may not sound like much of a surprise, but according to a brand study, Mercedes-Benz owners in China belong mostly to a class of wealthy entrepreneurs, and are in fact among the wealthiest in the nation. Those were the findings in a study conducted on the eight major luxury automakers in the biggest automotive market in the world, via a report by The Detroit News. Successful and wealthy entrepreneurs comprise the crop of Mercedes-Benz owners, and these same owners have the highest household assets among the groups of luxury car owners, pegged at 11.3 million yuan. Daimler has high hopes for Denza EV in China

It’s been a few months since Daimler held the world premiere of its Denza electric vehicle, the highly anticipated product of its joint venture with Chinese company BYD. Daimler-BYD’s DENZA EV officially unveiled at Auto China 2014

The highly anticipated product of the Daimler-BYD joint venture finally got its world premiere. At the Auto China 2014 event, BYD Daimler New Technology showcased the production model of its pet project, an electric vehicle developed specifically for the Chinese market. BDNT expects the first unit of the DENZA automobile to be available by September 2014. The car is priced at RMB369,000, or around $59,250. ABB to supply fast chargers for Daimler’s DENZA EV

Daimler has just tapped Zurich-based multinational corporation ABB to supply fast chargers for the DENZA electric vehicle, which is set to be released in China under Shenzhen BYD Daimler New Technology, or BDNT for short, the Daimler and BYD joint venture. The fast chargers can be purchased through official DENZA dealerships and are designed to, well, reduce the time it takes to juice up the EV. Daimler, BYD Expand Partnership

Daimler, parent company of Mercedes-Benz, and Chinese car and battery maker BYD Co. have agreed to expand their electric vehicle partnership by each investing an additional sum of around $69 million dollars in the Shenzhen BYD Daimler New Energy Technology Co., the two companies’ 2011 joint venture that makes EVs under the Denza brand. The investment is intended to aggressively come up with clean-energy automobiles, and this should jumpstart the joint venture’s efforts to bring finalized products to market at the soonest possible time.
