Opus Automotive is Working on a 1,111-HP Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series

The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series still holds the distinction as the fastest road-legal car to ever lap the Nurburgring, but seeing more room for a wild power boost, some tuners have already tinkered with the mechanicals of the auto to surpass its factory-set output. Another tuner looking to do just that is Opus Automotive, which is aiming to give the car a total of 1,111 hp. Opus Automotive is formerly known as Renntech Europe. It has a workshop near the Nurburgring circuit so we surely would love to see its work test its mettle on the endurance track once it gets completed. As a recap, the AMG GT Black Series… Continue Reading »

2021 Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro Gets Tattooed by Carlex Design

The Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro used to be the king of the hill in the high-performance division of the three-pointed star marque before the arrival of the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series. Due to it being eclipsed by the Black Series, it is now bound to the chopping block as a part of its brand’s streamlining efforts. As a final salute to the model, let’s take a look at the Tattoo Edition package for the auto from Carlex Design. The Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro Tattoo Edition is a bit unorthodox in and out, but for those who are already familiar with the works of Carlex Design, it’s just the tuner doing… Continue Reading »

Brabus Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S Outshines the Black Series with Its Near 900 HP Output

The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4-Door has established itself as one of the most powerful four-door coupes in the world by conquering the Nurburgring Nordschleife track with only a 7:25.41 lap time back in 2018. Seeing more potential in the car as we await its hybrid Mercedes-AMG GT 73 trim, Brabus decided to boost its engine to deliver nearly 900 hp. Early this year, spy shots have confirmed that Mercedes is indeed working on the AMG GT 73 4-Door hybrid with an expected output of at least 800 hp. Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro Tuned to 669 HP by RENNtech

The Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro sits just below the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series but there seems to be a lot of performance gap to fill between the two. The new tuning package of RENNtech bridges their outputs by bringing the AMG GT Pro’s power to 669 HP, and it adds a couple of aerodynamics and handling upgrades to further up its game. In its stock configuration, the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine of the AMG GT R Pro produces 577 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. All that power is directed to a rear-wheel-drive system and managed via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The new RENNtech package for the AMG GT R… Continue Reading »

Posaidon Mercedes-AMG G63 Can Go 0-62 MPH in Just 3.6 Seconds

Last month, we saw Performmaster tune the Mercedes-AMG G63 to produce up to 794 hp and 752 lb-ft torque. That’s more than what the new Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series could deliver from its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 720 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. If that’s already mind-blowing enough, wait ‘til you see what Posaidon did to the output of the iconic sport utility vehicle of the three-pointed star brand. From the original 585 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque coming from the 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 power unit of the AMG G63, Posaidon injected a whopping 355 hp and 316 lb-ft of torque to the unit through a major… Continue Reading »

On the sidelines this week though is PerformMaster’s latest project with the Mercedes-AMG G63 because the tuner managed to boost the performance of the iconic sport utility vehicle above the level of the Black Series. In its stock configuration, the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine of the AMG G63 already produces 577 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. The numbers take it from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, and its top speed is electronically-maxed at 149 mph with the optional AMG… Continue Reading »
