Thursday morning will see the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team principal Ross Brawn face a 12-man FIA tribunal amid a tire-testing controversy that the team and F1 tire supplier Pirelli got tangled in. Nobody was able to provide a challenge for Sebastian Vettel at the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix, so Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton had to settle for the battle for second place. He lost that, too, but at least managed to get his third podium finish in the last seven races. During rain-soaked qualifying, Lewis Hamilton had a chance to take pole position for Mercedes AMG Petronas, but had to settle for P2 alongside Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel. It’s the first time in four races that the Brit managed to out-qualify teammate Nico Rosberg, who settled for P4 behind the surprising P3 of Valtteri Bottas of Williams F1. With conditions deteriorating in Q2 so much that there was a red-flag incident involving Felipe Massa, Hamilton was able to pace the pack with 1:27.649. After an amazing run in the Monaco Grand Prix with Nico Rosberg bagging the victory, Lewis Hamilton believes that the Mercedes Team can do it again in the Canadian circuit. BBC Sport pointed out that Rosberg only won the Monaco race because he was able to control the pace. However, with the track in Canada, wherein overtaking is easier, it will be hard to get on top of the other teams. With one win finally in the bag, the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team is keen on keeping their momentum going. The team is hoping for another solid performance at the 2013 Canadian Grand Prix this coming weekend. One teen was definitely elated when he met his longtime sporting hero, Lewis Hamilton at the Monaco Grand Prix, which was the race that the team won last Sunday. Zaim Beekawa, a nineteen year-old boy diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (a form of cancer), was nominated by a social worker at the University College Hospital in London to realize his lifetime wish of meeting his idol, Hamilton.
