Lewis Hamilton wins Singapore GP, grabs lead in title race from Mercedes teammate

The Singapore Grand Prix could prove to be the turning point in this year’s battle for the drivers’ championship. Lewis Hamilton held off a crowd near the end of the race to claim the victory while grabbing the lead in the standings, thanks largely to his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg failing to finish after many struggles even before the race began. Hamilton managed to get out of a tricky pit stop in lap 51 and avoided a tight battle for the win, especially with two Red Bull Racing cars right in the thick of it. He retakes the lead from Sebastian Vettel by lap 54 thanks to DRS, and eventually cruised to… Continue Reading »

Listen to the Sound of the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG

The spy video above shows the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG making its usual rounds at the Nurburgring track. Sure, the car displayed power almost the same, or even probably more than the Mercedes-AMG GT, based on several sources. However, the noise expected from the 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine seemed to be lacking. One of AMG’s signature is the extra exhaust noise it provides to any Mercedes-Benz its tuners get their hands on. That is something that every buyer and fan of the performance division of Daimler expect. AMG seemed to blow that character off in the upcoming C63 though. Critics and even the author of this article find the new Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG too quiet for something with a V8… Continue Reading »

Another front row lockout for Mercedes in 2014 Singapore Grand Prix qualifying

Lewis Hamilton took another pole position at the qualifying session for the 2014 Singapore Grand Prix, clinching his sixth pole of the season and giving Mercedes AMG Petronas its 13th pole in 14 races so far. Joining the Brit on the front row once the race starts tonight is Nico Rosberg, whose qualifying time was only 0.007 seconds short of Hamilton’s. Getting pole position is always a great thing, although it is not a guarantee for victory. It certainly helps, though, especially as Hamilton is still trying to catch Rosberg in the drivers’ championship race. Rosberg leads 238 to 216, with five races left after Singapore. “I lost a lot… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz E-Class Prototype Spied

New spy photos of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class prototype made it online recently. The new version is dubbed by several sources as the W213 because it is expected to be the replacement for the current W212, which has been on sale four years from now. A quick glance at the photos would make one easily mistake the camouflaged vehicle as a C-Class due to its front grille’s resemblance with the best-selling range of the German marque. The MRA platform where it is based can also be found in the C-Class. The interior seems to house similar features with the C-Class too. However, a more careful look at the car would reveal that it is wider than the mentioned… Continue Reading »
