New Four-Seater Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe Spied In The Cold

Giancarlo Perlas February 23, 2023

Based on previous spy shots, the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe is about to get a 2+2 layout. And no, we’re not referring to the 4-Door Coupe version of the car right now. Recently, one version of the high-performance vehicle was spotted while testing in cold weather.

The video from CarSpyMedia shows the same level of camouflage found in the earlier spy shots of the two-door coupe. The wraps are seen covering the nose, parts of the sides, and the entire back of the car, including its rear windshield panels.

As always, the covers indicate where most of the changes will be taking place in the revised version of the AMG GT. However, making it harder for us to see the features of the auto this time is the snow build-up that it has accumulated in some of its key areas while cruising through the cold.

The snow caking the usual location of the charging port in this type of model definitely makes it difficult for us to determine whether or not this is a hybrid. Nevertheless, we have a strong reason that it is when looking back at the earlier spy shots of the car and keeping in mind Mercedes’ electrification roadmap.

It should be noted as well that the video here shows two versions of the AMG GT. One has quadruple circular-tipped tailpipes while the other comes with the same number of exhausts but with rectangular tips. The latter is usually reserved for the range-topping variant of the model designated as the AMG GT 63.

There’s no solid information yet about the new powertrain offerings found in the production versions of the AMG GT prototypes in the video, but there’s a likelihood that the more potent variant may mirror the same configuration found on the AMG GT 63 S E Performance. The said layout partners a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor for a mild-hybrid setup capable of up to 831 hp.

We can expect the new AMG GT Coupe to debut late this year or early 2024.
