Here Comes the Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake

Giancarlo Perlas June 5, 2019

The Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake model is getting a high-performance variant. By the end of this year, the UK will finally have the Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake. Sadly, the car will never reach US soil.

Power and Performance

There are plenty of things that US customers will miss when the AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake will be made available in Europe. Just like the Mercedes-AMG A 35 hatch that also never made it to American buyers, the AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake is powered by a petrol-fed 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine. It comes with 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque.

The output is distributed to the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system via a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. The setup allows an acceleration from 0-100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. Meanwhile, its top speed is electronically-limited to 250 km/h.

Appearance

The new model debuted with a bright yellow exterior finish. The car combines the winning styling recipe of the CLA with a svelte wagon design. It is also highlighted by a set of 18-inch allow wheels, sporty chrome front grille, wide side skirts, fresh rear diffuser, updated bumpers and dual exhaust tips.

Those who want more out of the AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake can further improve its looks and driving performance by going for the optional AMG Aerodynamic Package. The add-on includes a set of 19-inch wheels, sportier front spoiler, more aggressive front splitter and a set of dive planes.

That’s not all! Going inside the vehicle reveals Nappa-trimmed sports seats, aluminum pedals, AMG sports steering wheel and the high-tech dual-screen with the latest MBUX multimedia system.

There are five drive modes to choose from in the AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake. These are the Smoothness, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual. The Comfort mode offers the best fuel economy among the auto’s driving programs while Sport+ brings out the monster out of the car’s engine.
