Engine Sound Of Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 Prototype Muted

The recent spy shots of the test mule of the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 only showed how the upcoming successor of the GLK SUV will look like. But, a recent spy video emerged showing the muted sounds of the GLC 63 as it was tested, as shown on a report from autoevolution.com.

Industry watchers expected an impressively roaring sound coming out of the upcoming GLC 63 as it passes by. But, it appears they may be disappointed. While production of the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 has yet to start, industry watchers are not expecting the luxury vehicle on the video to be remotely connected to it. Due to this, it may be the upcoming Mercedes-AMG GLC 63, which comes with the same 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 engine of the C63 and the C63 S.

The engine allowed the Mercedes-AMG GT to outperform the SLS AMG in terms of speed and is considered legendary in many automobile circles. It was also supposed to produce a more impressive sound compared to the 6.3-liter unit. But, the video shows otherwise.

It may be possible hat this prototype is using the exhaust system of the GLC 43, which does not allow it to produce the expected sound. It remains uncertain how the testing order of Mercedes-Benz is conducted. It may be possible for them to change the whole powertrain or they may be testing for any overheating in bigger engines before installing the suspension.

It may also be possible that the GLC 63 has some unique differences from the C63, which uses the same platform and engine. Since the SUV is less aerodynamic and heavier, it may be possible that an Eco-mode was installed by engineers. Combining the 9-speed automatic transmission system with the huge engine can allow you to drive up to 50 km/h while idling.

These theories may be unproven for the moment, but industry watchers are in agreement that the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 will become the best luxury SUV once it enters the market. While it is lighter compared to the X5 M, it will feature the best performance technology currently available in the market.
