Qualcomm’s vast experience in the mobile industry will be the key here, as you might have heard of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon systems-on-a-chip and telecommunications chipsets powering some of the most powerful mobile phones on the planet today.

Performance aspects that will be tackled by this new partnership will involve race speed, reliability, and efficiency. In addition, real-time data transmission, wireless charging integration, and sensor network technologies will also be explored.

As part of the deal, we will now see Qualcomm branding prominently on the F1 W06 Hybrid’s nose, as well as on the drivers’ racing suit sleeves. Branding will also feature on the team clothing of Mercedes AMG Petronas.

“With Mercedes-Benz leading the motorsports circuit, this collaboration provides a prominent testing ground for new technology advancements,” said Qualcomm Incorporated president Derek Aberle.

To be specific, Qualcomm Technologies deals with the engineering, R&D, and the products and services businesses of Qualcomm Incorporated. It is seen as one of the pioneers and leaders in the evolution of digital communications for over 25 years. For perspective, many current flagship and upper-midrange smartphones from the leading brands today use the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile SoCs.
