Qualcomm is Mercedes AMG Petronas team’s new Official Technology Partner

The Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team has just announced a partnership with Qualcomm Incorporated, in which the telecom equipment and semiconductor company’s subsidiary Qualcomm Technologies will be an Official Technology Partner of the team, developing advanced communication features for the defending Formula One constructors champions. Terms of the multi-year agreement will involve the development of new connected-car tech aimed at improving the on-track performance of the Mercedes team. Daimler accidentally leaks Google Projected Mode

When Internet companies’ upcoming products get leaked, it’s usually through tech blogs, insiders, or marketing ploys intended to drum up interest. This time, though, a job advertisement from a partner is the culprit, as Daimler, the parent company of German automaker Mercedes-Benz, unwittingly leaked Google’s “Projected Mode” via a job posting on its web site, which to our knowledge has since been amended. There really isn’t much that can be learned about this new Google software or technology, especially coming from a vague passage within a job ad. New Mercedes-Benz R&D Center Opens in Sunnyvale, California

You don’t consistently get to make some of the most technologically advanced automobile designs in the world without the right research and development facilities. As part of the strengthening of Daimler’s international R&D network, the German company has just opened the new Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America (MBRDNA) HQ and Mercedes-Benz Silicon Valley R&D Center in Sunnyvale, California. Mercedes-Benz already has an extensive network of partners in the Silicon Valley area since around 20 years ago.
