Swiss Army to Go With Mercedes-Benz G-Class 300 CDI

Out with the old, in with the new. That’s what the Swiss Army is set to do as it seeks to replace its PUCH all-terrain vehicles with some new Mercedes-Benz G-Class 300 CDI units that are superior in terms of technology to the incumbents that have already been in service for around 20 years. The decision was arrived at following some tough tests and evaluations by armasuisse, and there were three other contenders for the distinction of being the next all-terrain vehicles procured by the Swiss Army. According to the statement by Mercedes-Benz, armasuisse opted for the G-Class for a variety of reasons, including proven robust technology and how the… Continue Reading »

AUTOart Release New Color Option For Mercedes-Benz G-Class Scale Model

Model enthusiasts are expected to be elated with the release of a new color option of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class by AUTOart recently. The scale model of the off-road vehicle from the German luxury car manufacturer shows a rather detailed interior, including its plastic trimming that mimics the wood interior of a full-size version of the vehicle. This scale model will be a good conversation piece or even a nice décor to put on the center table of the living room of a Mercedes-Benz enthusiast. It may even catch the attention of a number of toy collectors, who are looking for something to add into their personal collection. The scale model… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz G550 SUV Starts at $113,000

For those who are looking for style, performance, and a decent set of off-road capabilities from their SUVs, the Mercedes-Benz G550 is an excellent choice. MBUSA offers these vehicles starting at $113,000 (MSRP) with the 5.5-liter V8 engine, 382 horsepower, and a towing capacity of 7,500 pounds max. While the G550 is capable enough on off-road paths, one also has to wonder when specially designed trail-optimized options would be available at Mercedes-Benz dealers, like when new Trail Teams Special Edition packages started to be sold at Toyota FJ Cruiser dealerships. Those were received fairly well by the public, and with the resurgence of off-roading and of other outdoor activities, there… Continue Reading »

Smaller Mercedes-Benz G-Class in the Works? “Mini-G” Could Launch by 2015

If the Samsung Galaxy S III has a Samsung Galaxy Mini, then the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen has… the Mini-G? There is a lot of buzz these days about Mercedes’ plans to launch a smaller G-Wagen, and this unit—codenamed “Mini-G” internally and said to be slated to have a GLG badge—will be based on the A-Class and could be launched sometime around the middle of 2015. As expected, there are barely any details about the vehicle at the moment—even the name isn’t final yet—but it is expected that it will feature many physical traits similar to the original G-Wagen while having internal components like a smaller engine range. Of course, there might… Continue Reading »

G65 AMG Won’t Hit US Shores

The high-performance Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG G-Wagen will not be accompanying the rest of its Mercedes-Benz G-Class brethren when they enter US territory later in 2012. That’s a bit of a disappointment for the many who want to see the powerhouse on American soil and for the few who could actually afford one. Specs-wise, the G65 AMG is very much in the neighborhood of the highly-touted Lamborghini Urus super SUV, something the Italian automaker hopes to make into the most powerful production unit in its class. The G65 comes with a 6-liter twin-turbo V12—the same one on the S65 AMG—that allows the tweaked G-Class unit to provide a monstrous 612 horsepower… Continue Reading »
