Mercedes-Benz Auction Of Bonhams Raises €13 Million

A total of €13 million was raised in the Mercedes-Benz auction of Bonhams, which was higher the results of the previous year, as indicated on a report from gtspirit.com. This year’s auction, which was held with the support of the Mercedes-Benz Museum, sold nearly 93 percent of the lots by value. Among the top lot in the auction was a remarkable 1938 Mercedes-Benz 540K Cabriolet A. Mercedes-Benz Wins Six Categories in 2014 Motor Klassik Award

In the 2014 edition of the Motor Klassik Award, Mercedes-Benz managed to get wins in a whopping six categories, showcasing the continued excellence of the brand in a variety of aspects. The Silver Arrows race cars, the 1934 W 25 and the 1954 W 196 R, took a double victory in the ‘Racing Cars’ and ‘Auction Cars’ categories. In the ‘Classics up to 1930’ category, the Mercedes-Benz SSK sports car bagged the victory, while the 300 SL “Gullwing” Coupé (pictured) took the win in the ‘Classics 1947 to 1961’ category. Mercedes-Benz Classic to Field 500 SL at ADAC Eifel Rally

At the ADAC Eifel Rally Festival, which is set to be held from July 25 through 27, Mercedes-Benz Classic is set to field a 500 SL rally version. At the helm of the vehicle will be Björn Waldegård, a former winner of the Bandama Rally in 1980 while driving a Mercedes-Benz 500 SLC. The classic vehicle is actually one that was prepared for competition in 1981. Mercedes-Benz SSK Booked for 2013 ‘Elephant Race’ at Nurburgring

Mercedes-Benz Classic is set to field the 225hp Mercedes-Benz SSK at the 2013 ‘Elephant Race’, which will be held as part of the ADAC Eifel Race that runs from June 14 through 16. Jochen Mass will be the one at the helm, competing for the Jan Wellem Cup. This participation is meant to commemorate Rudolf Caracciola’s win in 1927. Caracciola, driving a Mercedes-Benz S, helped score a double win with Adolf Rosenberger. The SSK stands for ‘super-sport-kurz’, as a way of showing the evolution from the Mercedes-Benz S. Mercedes-Benz Becomes Main Automotive Sponsor for Mille Miglia Event

In order to establish a “long-term collaboration,” Mercedes-benz Classic and 1000 Miglia S.R.L., the entity behind Mille Miglia endurance race, have struck a partnership that will see Mercedes-Benz become the main automotive sponsor for the event. As expected because of the company’s extensive participation in the event throughout its history, Mercedes-Benz will be fielding a number of vehicles in this year’s iteration of the Mille Miglia. Mercedes-Benz 600 Owned by Saddam Hussein Surfaces

Ferdinand Marcos, Fidel Castro, Pol Pot, and Saddam Hussein. What do these guys have in common? They all had a Mercedes-Benz 600 to drive. Zac Estrada over at Jalopnik wrote about  the Mercedes-Benz 600 owned by Hussein, perhaps among the most infamous personalities in modern history. This particular 600 is of the 1978 model year, and it has been left in the basement of the Petersen Automotive Museum for years.
