New spy shots and a video reveal that the performance division of Mercedes-Benz has been very busy even after it just unveiled the Mercedes-AMG GT R. The images and the clip show a soft top version of the Mercedes-AMG GT, which was christened unofficially as the “Mercedes-AMG GT C.”

In July, Mercedes-Benz confirmed that it is working on a roadster version of the Mercedes-AMG GT. After that, spy pictures and a video of the camouflaged Mercedes-AMG GT C while undergoing testing have started circulating online.

The photos and clip suggest that the auto is carrying a soft top. Despite the full wrap, the contours of the roadster display a strong likeness with the Mercedes-AMG GT. Therefore, the styling of the vehicle should no longer come as a surprise, except its foldable roofing and the flat boot lid to accommodate the soft top.

Information about the Mercedes-AMG GT C remain as a well-guarded secret by its maker. However, a report said the model will follow the same drivetrains offered by the Mercedes-AMG GT. Thus, the convertible will still possess the handcrafted 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine of AMG. The output will likely be 462 hp. It is speculated that the roadster variant will also have a more powerful version that will produce up to 510 hp.
