Check Out This Red Mercedes-AMG GT Captured By Ben Frasen

While the German luxury vehicle manufacturer does not consider the Mercedes-AMG GT as the successor of the SLS, industry watchers think otherwise. A report from gtspirit.com shows a stunning red AMG GT with black multi-spoke wheels as well as a fixed rear wing. This particular unit of the AMG GT was captured by Ben Fransen, who produced breathtaking photos of the luxury super car.

The development of the AMG GT was piqued the interest of a number of industry watchers since it offered lesser power than its predecessor. It was also relatively cheaper. Existing models are normally replaced with models offering more power and comfort by luxury vehicle manufacturer. They typically aim to offer something better for the market.

However, this is not the case for the Mercedes-AMG GT. While Mercedes-Benz said the AMG GT should not be considered as the replacement of the SLS, it entered the Mercedes range as the SLS was phased out by the luxury vehicle manufacturer. The company reiterated that the AMG GT was developed as a direct competitor to the Porsche 911 Turbo and the Porsche 911 Turbo S instead of the Lamborghini Huracan or the Ferrari 458 Italia.

Aside from the its distinctive design, what sets the AMG GT apart from the SLS AMG is its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which is in contrast to the 6.2-liter V8 engine of the SLS AMG. The specs of the range-topping AMG GT S show that it is only capable of producing 503 HP of power as compared to the 563 HP produced by the SLS AMG. In spite of this, the Mercedes-AMG GT is still faster compared to the SLS.
