The three-pointed star marque just announced its plan to release a Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe in the future. The company’s way of giving everyone an idea about the new addition to its fleet of vehicles was done via a sketch, which can be seen above. It was also similar to the brand’s unveiling for its plan to build its very own pickup truck.

As the name of the GLC suggests, it is based on the platform of the C-Class. According to Motorward, the Mercedes GLC Coupe is being groomed to compete with the BMW X4.

So now, the company has the GLE Coupe vs. the X6 and the GLC Coupe vs. the X4. It should be noted that the former will make its debut at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show this month.

The source claimed that the Mercedes-Benz GLC Couple is expected to be rolled out around 2017. That’s certainly a long time from now.

Basing from the estimated year of release of the GLC Coupe, it will have a 2018 as a model year. Then, the report said it will come with the usual petrol, diesel and hybrid power units. Of course, the auto will have its AMG version too.

That’s all we have so far since it is still very early to speculate on its features, particularly what’s inside its hood. However, knowing what Mercedes-Benz is capable of, it will surely be worth the wait.
