smart times 2012: World Record for Longest smart Parade in Antwerp

Antwerp, Belgium was the meeting place for 1,594 smart vehicle enthusiasts from 27 countries that participated in the smart times 2012. This was easily the largest gathering of the community that supports smart, and they also helped set the world record for the longest smart parade when they drove 1,114 smart vehicles through the streets of Antwerp. You might be thinking, so many cars—even if they’re smart cars—should produce a considerable amount of carbon dioxide. Don’t worry, because this will be compensated for by a reforestation effort from smart, together with the nonprofit WeForest. A total of 5,200 trees will be planted in Kenya. The smart times, which started back… Continue Reading »

DTM 2012: Green 4th, Paffett 7th

Jamie Green reclaimed the number 2 spot in the drivers’ standings of the 2012 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season after finishing fourth at the Zandvoort race. With 93 points, Green overtook Bruno Spengler of BMW, who had 91 points after finishing sixth in the race. Gary Paffett still leads the drivers’ standings even despite an uninspiring 7th place finish. Race winner Edoardo Mortara of Audi moved up to fourth in the standings. While it’s been two consecutive disappointing outings for the Mercedes-Benz teams in DTM, starting from the Nurburgring race right after the midway break, the automaker still leads all of the three DTM categories: drivers, teams, and constructors. Office-K’s Version of the Mercedes R231 SL

With just a few months after its launch, tuners from all over the world are shifting their interest on the Mercedes R231 SL, the latest one being the Japanese tuner Office-K. Although the changes are very subtle, the company made very nice alterations on what seems to be the SL350 or SL500. Reports also say that they are doing a LHD version of the vehicle. A God Hand front lip spoiler is the most obvious update, plus the Carlsson 20-inch wheels, lowered suspension and tinted taillights made the car look more muscular. The newest SL version is a beauty in itself, so even with just some minor updates it already… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz Clay Model Pics: Is this the W222 Rear?

The 2014 W222 model of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is still a long time coming, but that’s not stopping us from speculating based on images that surface on the Internet. The latest of these are some rear images of what appears to be a clay model of a vehicle, and some are wondering if this is an image of the W222. We’re not really sure at the moment. The rear lights’ curves are consistent with the spy shots we’ve already seen for the W222, but the trunk and bumper design seem a bit different compared to the curves that we’ve seen from the videos and images of the W222 testing on… Continue Reading »
