Daimler Sets India as Export Base for Asian and African Markets

Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard announced during a press conference in Stuttgart, Germany that Daimler is currently positioning India as its major export base for markets in Southeast Asia and Africa. According to The Economic Times India, the decision of Daimler to go for India as its export base was due to the strong sales growth they witnessed in the country as well as the company’s good momentum in the region. Daimler Trucks Growing its Business in Asia and Africa Through MFTBC and DICV

In order to get stronger results from its commercial vehicles division, Daimler has been working hard to establish itself in new growth markets, particularly in Asia and Africa. Key here is Daimler Trucks’ “Asia Business Model” that allows it to gain traction through ‘stronger bundling and optimization’ of operations within the region. New M-Class Launched in India

The third generation of the Mercedes-Benz M-Class SUV was launched recently in India, and it comes with exciting news that the vehicle will be priced some 15 percent less compared to the last iteration seen in the country. New BharatBenz Plant Inaugurated In India

Continuing its assault on all markets, Daimler has announced the completion of a new 700 million Euro manufacturing plant in Chennai, India. Having an initial production capacity of 36,000 units per year with a possibility of ramping up to more than 70,000 units per year depending on demand, the BharatBenz plant is one of only three Daimler truck plants worldwide to combine truck assembly and components production at one location. Indian Buyer Purchases 90 C-Class Sedans

In a deal that must have left its rivals smarting, Mercedes Benz of India recently delivered 90 units of the new C-Class sedan to a single customer. This customer, Cars on Rent, now ups its fleet of Mercedes Benzes to 160. Servicing customers in Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore, the additional order reflects the scale of the Indian market for luxury brands like Mercedes.
