Computer Illustration of upcoming E-Class Cabrio

MotorAuthority has posted some great computer illustrations of what should be the next E-Class Cabrio (aka Convertible). While the E-Class Sedan and even the Coupe will be unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show in March, followed by a release in middle of 2009 sometime, the Cabrio will be release a year later in 2010. RENNtech says NO to ceasefire – introduces the 777

While Volker Mornhinweg, boss of AMG, surrendered declared the horsepower wars as being over, here comes another Mercedes tuning company that’s not giving up. Just yesterday we reported on how BRABUS is continuing the war with their new M-Class Widestar, now comes news from RENNtech that they are joining them. To show their intentions, they will be releasing numerous limited edition (20 to be exact) of super tuned Mercedes cars this year, to mark their 20th anniversary as a tuning master. Mercedes-Benz is showing the way ahead in environmentally responsible electromobility by presenting its near-series Concept BlueZERO at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Based on a single vehicle architecture, this intelligent, modular concept allows three models with different drive configurations, all of which are able to meet customer requirements in terms of sustainable mobility. Mercedes-Benz to showcase ‘BlueZero’ low emission concepts in Detroit

Auto-motor-und-sport, Germans finest auto magazine, is reporting that Mercedes-Benz will be showcasing three new concepts at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show. The three concepts are called “BlueZero” and will highlight Mercedes’ commitment for low or no emission vehicles in the near future. The first concept is the BlueZero E-Cell, an all electric concept vehicle, which will be equipped with lithium ion batteries to provide a range of 100km or 62 miles on a 2 hour charge. The second vehicle is the BlueZero F-Cell, which is a hydrogen fuel-cell power concept. Mercedes-Benz planning an A-Class Roadster?!?

While we’ve actually heard Mercedes execs mention small cars and the U.S. multiple times in the same sentence, we didn’t think that they have this in mind – an A-Class based roadster. AutoWeek is reporting that Dieter Zetsche is considering a proposal for a two-seat roadster based on the A- and B-class. The compact front-wheel-drive roadster revives the idea behind the striking Vision SLA concept revealed at the Detroit auto show in 2000 (pictured above). The decision for an A-Class roadster, which would be positioned below the SLK, might have something to do with VW plans on introducing a new mid-engine roadster. Mercedes-Benz ConceptFASCINATION coup̩ РTrailer

You’ve probably seen the pictures and art work, but check out the trailer of the Mercedes-Benz ConceptFASCINATION coupe. The design study will be shown at this years Paris Motor Show. The ConceptFASCINATION is not only piratical and stylish, but the design study impresses with its technical underpinnings, too. These are drawn from the new E-Class and include the new four-cylinder diesel engine which features BlueTEC technology and develops 150 kW/ 204 hp from a displacement of 2.2 litres. Enjoy!
