Mercedes-Benz X-Class Teaser Surfaces

Giancarlo Perlas July 5, 2017

We are still reeling from the loud bang brought about by the fireworks during the Fourth of July U.S. Independence Day celebration, but Mercedes-Benz just released an explosive teaser. Recently, the automaker gave a sneak peak of its much-awaited Mercedes-Benz X-Class.

The video called “Mercedes-Benz X-Class: First of a New Kind—Teaser”, which was uploaded via YouTube by the three-pointed star brand, features rich visual effects. The clip starts with a brewing storm, strong waves in the ocean, avalanche, stampeding bulls and horses, and a lot more, which eventually take the form of the Mercedes pickup. The vehicle then rides into the wasteland and farther into the urban jungle.

The concept version of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class made its world premiere in Paris late last year. According to Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer of Daimler, the pickup embodies the “sensual purity” design language of the Mercedes brand. It mixes emotion, heart and sex appeal in design with intelligence solutions. The vehicle also showcases the contrasting “hot and cool” styling elements in one product.

The X-Class is built using the Nissan Navara platform. Compared to the design of the concept variant, the one shown in the video here appears to have some major tweaks in its styling. First, the contours and body lines of the auto look more rugged. Second, the face of the vehicle seems to resemble more the current SUV of its brand, particularly the GLE. Third, the lighting system of the pickup noticeably had an update.

Expect Mercedes to install its updated V6 engine in the X-Class. The unit will be mated to a 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive system.
