Sneak Peek Of The Mercedes-AMG GT S E Performance First Edition

Giancarlo Perlas March 31, 2023

Mercedes-Benz has been teasing car enthusiasts with the next-generation AMG GT for quite some time now. However, the latest prototype spotted in public is particularly intriguing. Sporting a striking gray color similar to the automaker’s Manufaktur selection, the vehicle is shrouded in less camouflage than previous prototypes.

Exterior Design

The prototype’s front end stands out with its vertical gills on the corners that hold the large Panamericana grille and intricate lower grille. The vehicle’s black wheels and massive brakes contribute to its overall visual appeal.

Overall, the unique design details indicate that the prototype is possibly an S E Performance First Edition model of the next-gen AMG GT.

Interior Elements

So far, we haven’t got a clear view of the next-gen AMG GT S E Performance’s interior yet. However, at a glance and based on reports, it will be sporting a 2+2 seating configuration similar to the Mercedes-AMG SL.

As always, the car is expected to combine the sophistication of the Mercedes-Benz brand and the performance-focused theme that the Mercedes-AMG is known for. Premium materials and advanced technologies are likely to be featured heavily in the cabin, offering a mix of premium and sporty driving experiences.

Powertrain Expectations

If the prototype is indeed the S E Performance First Edition, then it is expected to be powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain, similar to the four-door Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance model. The powertrain comprises a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine and an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 831 horsepower and over 1,000 pound-feet of torque. A charging port located on the rear bumper of the AMG GT hints at a similar setup.

The official debut date for the next-gen AMG GT has not been announced yet, but it is expected to be released late this year as a 2024 model-year vehicle. Mercedes-Benz has a history of offering various trim levels for the AMG GT, and this upcoming model is no different.

Car enthusiasts can expect a range of customization options, including exterior colors, interior materials, and tech features when the product finally rolls out in the market.
