Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV Seen Making Its Rounds on the Road

Giancarlo Perlas July 30, 2022

We have been seeing a lot of the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV these days. This time, the EV was spied again but in its high-performance AMG guise.

The prototype shown by Motor1 was seen cruising on the outskirts of Nurburgring in Germany. There’s not much to see here yet because of the heavy camouflage completely hugging the body of the prototype. However, the very tight wrapping is enough to give us some clues about the outline of the upcoming electric SUV and its key design elements.

For now, the only fully exposed parts are the 22-inch, multi-spoke, jet turbine-styled wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Then, the partially peeking headlamps and taillights all look the same as the ones equipped on the latest GLE SUV. There should be a thin LED strip over the liftgate bridging the rear lamps, too.

Meanwhile, the squarish black wrap on the fascia of the EV indicates where its faux front grille is located. It should get the same scattered star pattern with 3D effects in the background of the three-pointed star Mercedes logo. There appear to be fake air vents on each side of the front bumper where the camo appears to be dented. The running boards are also evident on the areas bulging on the side bases of the prototype. We couldn’t see the top but we are hoping for a Panoramic roofing there.

Based on its stance and seemingly intrinsic detailing emphasizing sportiness, the source suspects that this may be the Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV. It will most likely inherit the same powertrains found on its EQE sedan counterpart, which means the EQE 43 and 53 SUV trims will get 469 hp and 677 hp, respectively.

The Benz variant of the EQE SUV is expected to debut before 2022 ends if insider info is to be believed. On the other hand, its AMG range will probably follow sometime in 2023.
