Top 3 Features that Define the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe

Giancarlo Perlas March 7, 2018

The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is the most anticipated car at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. No wonder it made such a huge impact when it was finally unveiled during the event.

So, what is the hype all about? Basically, the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is an evolution of the two-door Mercedes-AMG GT cars. It combines high-performance with design.

Here is a quick look at the key features of the car:

1. Exterior

The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is highlighted by its athletic four-door fastback layout. The muscular body of the car is combined with the “Sensual Purity” philosophy of Mercedes, which brings about its very striking proportions, curves and body lines.

The four-door high-performance vehicle follows the design elements of its two-door siblings in the Mercedes-AMG GT range. Of course, that’s with the exception of its extra doors and added space in its cabin.

Among the highlights of the auto’s exterior include its long bonnet, shark-like nose, Panamericana radiator grille, aggressive jetwing-styled front bumper with massive air intakes, narrow Multibeam LED headlamps, low greenhouse, AMG performance wheels and tires, rear diffuser, retractable rear wing and quadruple exhaust tips.

2. Interior

The interior of the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door carries a few elements found in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, notably the quilted leather, dashboard layout, dual 12.3-inch displays, Energizing Comfort system, climate control, seat control, massage functions, heated steering wheel and ambient lighting.

3. Power Unit

The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door is available in V8 and inline-six units. The different trims of the model come with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission as standard.

The range-topping unit is the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC+ with its 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine configured to deliver 639 hp at 5,500-6,500 rpm and 900 Nm of torque at 2,500-4,500 rpm. The top speed of the car is at 315 km/h with a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.2 seconds.

The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC possesses the same engine as the GT 63 S but its output is limited to 585 hp at 5,500-6,500 rpm and its torque is 800 Nm at 2,350-5,000 rpm. The figures are enough to propel the vehicle from 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds while its max speed is capped at 310 km/h.

Last but not least is the Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4MATIC. The car is equipped with a 3.0-liter inline-six engine partnered to an exhaust gas turbocharger and electric auxiliary compressor giving it a hybrid setup. At 6100 rpm, it can produce 435 hp from its engine and 22 hp from the EQ Boost with torque of 520 Nm at 1,800-5,800 rpm. The auto can reach a speed of up to 285 km/h and can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.
