Mercedes-AMG GT LH Planned

Mercedes-AMG GT R

We are still recovering from the sheer awesomeness displayed by the Mercedes-AMG GT R. However, a report surfaced that the car will have more to offer.

Speaking with Top Gear, Lewis Hamilton revealed that he spoke to AMG chief Tobias Moers about a collaboration involving the GT series. He said in the interview that when the GT R was introduced to him, he wanted to do something out of the Mercedes-AMG GT. The reigning Formula One World Drivers’ Champion stated that he would customize the car based on his taste and have it released as a limited edition model.

“When they first brought the AMG GT R to me I had all these ideas! I was talking to Tobias, ‘you’ve got all this F1 technology, and you’ve got the world champion driving your car, let’s do something together,” he said.

Hamilton mentioned that if he would do his own car based on the GT, he would call it the Mercedes-AMG GT LH. Obviously, LH stands for the Briton’s initials.

Although not much information has been disclosed about the plan, there are speculations about what Hamilton might do with the GT LH. First off, he might retain the 4.0-liter handcrafted biturbo V8 engine found in the GT R. If that’s the case it would certainly be packing at least 577 hp.

The 577 hp seems reasonable for the GT LH as there are predictions that AMG will carry the Black Series formula to the GT—being the successor of the Mercedes SLS AMG GT.
