Mercedes just released a new sketch detailing the design of its DTM challenger in the 2016 season. So far, it looks great.

A lot of people have this impression that race cars are characterized by exaggerated winglets and aerodynamic elements. These usually make them absurd and not ideal for road use. However, the styling of the next Mercedes DTM car veers away from that perception.

2016 Mercedes DTM Race Car Will Use the Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe Platform

According to the head of Mercedes-AMG DTM unit Ulrich Fritz, in his interview with Motorsport.com, the upcoming race car of the brand will use the platform of the Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe. He hopes the new unit will continue the success of its predecessor.

It should be noted that the C-Class is Mercedes’ most successful race car in DTM. With it, its drivers have racked up 85 victories in its total of 159 races.

Quoting Fritz in his interview with the source, he said, “The new Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupé will again set new standards for driving dynamics and design. So, the vehicle provides the ideal basis for our DTM car.”

He added, “I’m already looking forward to seeing the new Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM compete in 2016. Our aim with this vehicle is, of course, to continue the Mercedes-Benz success story in the DTM.”
