Mercedes G63 AMG 6×6 Appears in the New Michael Douglas Movie
Giancarlo Perlas April 16, 2015If you were a ruthless multimillionaire out for a hunting trip in the desert, the ideal ride for you should be an equally mean-looking vehicle that does not pull out any punches too when conquering harsh terrains and extreme weather conditions. A wise choice for such an epic outdoor adventure should at least be a Mercedes-Benz G-Class, or a the Mercedes G63 AMG 6×6 in this case.
In the new movie of the veteran actor Michael Douglas with the title “Beyond the Reach”, he acts as the antagonist who is hell-bent on killing Jeremy Irvine to cover his tracks after accidentally committing a crime. One noteworthy subject in the movie is the Mercedes six-wheeler, which plays as the villain’s choice of ride.
According to LA Times, the movie crew had to fly the massive six-wheeler from Germany all the way to the filming location in New Mexico. The 6×6 was transported in a cargo plane, and it was accompanied by its own dedicated engineer to make sure that the auto would be in its full running condition all throughout the filming process.
The off-roader was fitted with all the things a desert adventurer might need like onboard air tanks for controlling tire pressure, custom-cases for housing special hunting rifles, microwave oven, and espresso machine.
Producer Robert Mitas revealed it was Douglas who pitched the movie to Mercedes-Benz USA. It was immediately approved by the company and had the Mercedes G63 AMG 6×6 flown to the U.S. in no time.
