Giancarlo Perlas September 15, 2016

Just a few short weeks after the world premiere of AMG GT R, Mercedes is offering two roadster variant of the two-seater sports car. The portfolio is further expanded by the arrival of the AMG GT C Roadster, which has an output of 557 horsepower and 680 Nm peak torque.

These two roadster variants with fabric soft tops have the technical genes for which AMG is famous. This includes the lightweight and torsionally rigid aluminium body shell plus powerful and efficient V8 biturbo engines. The entry level Roadster, the AMG GT, has a capacity of 476 horsepower while the GT C can produce 557 horsepower, clearly the more powerful of the two open-top sports cars.

The GT Roadster packs a 4.0-liter V-8 with twin turbochargers and direct injection. This is coupled with a rear-wheel drive system and AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It can go 0-100kph in just 4 seconds  and it has a top speed of 302kph.

The GT C also comes with a 4.0-liter V-8 with twin turbochargers and direct injection paired with the same rear-wheel drive system and AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. However, it can go 0-100kph in just 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 316 kph. Its suspension is the AMG RIDE CONTROL sport suspension with adaptive adjustable damping.

The AMG GT C Roadster impresses with more output in terms of horsepower and torque, as well as numerous technical details from the Mercedes-AMG GT R.

Same with the AMG GT R, the GT C Roadster is recognizable thanks to its wide, muscular rear end and large wheels. It also has a wider rear track and active rear axle steering.

Furthermore, the AMG GT C is equipped with a lithium-ion battery, and standard features that include a nappa leather interior, the AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather/DINAMICA microfibre and the additional transmission mode RACE.
