Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG And CLA 45 AMG To Receive Power Boost

Tobias Moers, head of Mercedes-AMG, said the Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG and Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG are set to receive the same power upgrade given to the new model of the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG. The upgrades for the two luxury vehicle models will be given immediately, and will not wait for their respective facelifts, as indicated on a report from gtspirit.com.

The two vehicle models will start to use the new four-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbo-charged engine of the A45. The engine of the refreshed A45 AMG has a power output of 375 HP, which is higher than the 355 HP of the previous model. The torque was also increased to 350 lb-ft from 332 lb-ft. These figures are enough to reduce the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration of the luxury hatch by 0.4 seconds.

The enhancement on the A45 also includes an improved 7-speed dual-clutch transmission along with a mechanical locking front differential. These enhancements are expected to be included on the Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG and Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG when they are updated. The transmission system will feature shorter third and fourth gears. These two luxury vehicles will also receive updates to enhance response as well as shift times. The CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake may also get the same enhancements.

Moers added that the minor aesthetic enhancements on the A45 will not be given to the Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG and Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG since these design enhancements are set to be used on the facelifts of these two vehicles once they are unveiled.

It is also expected for the facelifts of the two luxury vehicles to use the new nomenclature of AMG since they will be called the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 and Mercedes-AMG CLA 45.
