Giancarlo Perlas May 13, 2023Mercedes-Benz is set to release the new E-Class L, a luxurious sedan with a long wheelbase. According to leaked images and details published by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the long-wheelbase (LWB) E-Class is longer than the standard version and will be released exclusively in China.
Design and Features
The E-Class L boasts a classic front grille design and a hood ornament bearing the three-pointed star emblem. That’s unlike the standard model which has a sportier front grille with the Mercedes logo embedded in it.
Its size goes up to 200.4 inches in length, making it 5.6 in. longer than the standard variant available globally. Meanwhile, the car’s wheelbase is stretched by 5.2 in. long for an overall size of 121.8 in., providing more legroom for the rear passengers.
Engine and Performance
Mercedes will offer the LWB model in two variants. These include the E 260 L with 201 hp and the E 300 L rated at 255 hp.
Both trims are equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine. The base version has a top speed of 146 mph, while the more potent variant can reach 152 mph.
Competition
The LWB version of the E-Class joins other luxury sedans that have had their wheelbases stretched for greater rear legroom, such as the Jaguar XFL, BMW 5 Series Li, Audi A6L, and the A7L sedan.
Release and Availability
The E-Class L did not make an appearance at the Auto Shanghai 2023. However, it is expected to debut later this year in China.

The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class L is set to take the luxury sedan market in China for customers who more likely prefer to be chauffeured.
