5 Reasons Why the Mercedes-AMG E63 is Reeking with Awesomeness
Giancarlo Perlas October 31, 2016One thing to look forward to on January 16, 2017 is the start of orders for the 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63 saloon in the market. Of course, since we are talking about an AMG model here, the car raises the bar set by the Mercedes-Benz E-Class further.
Here are 5 key reasons why the Mercedes-AMG E63 is worth your money:
1. Engine
The E63 carries the handcrafted 4.0-liter biturbo and direct injection V8 of AMG. The unit is offered in two flavors for the E63 and the E63 S. The E63 has 571 hp and 750 Nm of torque. The E63 S produces 612 hp and 850 Nm of torque.
Both provide the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ permanent all-wheel drive with variable torque distribution. However, the E63 S pushes things up by its drift mode. The power of the two are distributed by their AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9-speed sports transmission.
The two also share the same electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h. Getting the optional AMG Driver’s Package sets it up to 300 km/h. Then the acceleration of the E63 and the E63 S from 0-100 km/h are 3.5 seconds and 3.4 seconds, respectively.
2. Design
The executive design of the E-Class is bumped with new aerodynamic parts. It benefits from new bumpers, wheel arches, front grille, front lip spoiler, and wings inspired by the car’s coupe version. New set of wheels and tires adorn the AMG models of the E-Class as well.
3. Comfort
Aside from the usual features of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class that precedes it, the E63 has four drive systems, namely the “Comfort,” “Sport,” “Sport Plus” and “Individual.” The drive programs allow the driver to configure the engine response time, transmission, suspension, steering and ESP. The E63 S adds a “Race” program in the mix.
4. Technology
Most intelligent executive saloon of Mercedes. The AMG E-Class has all the amenities available in its standard Mercedes-Benz counterpart. Among them are the driving assistance, safety, navigation, connectivity and entertainment packages in the Mercedes E-Class. The AMG E-Class comes with some new elements though like the speed-sensitive steering, high-performance braking, and AMG TRACK PACE app supplementing the RACETIMER feature.
5. Edition 1
The E63 S will have a limited “Edition 1” model. The car is fitted with an exclusive and distinct styling thanks to a Night black magno paint finish and dynamic side stripes. Moreover, E63 S Edition 1 has a new set of 20-inch AMG matt black, forged wheels.
The E63 S Edition 1 has the Night package as a standard fit that include performance seats in nappa leather and yellow stitching, sports steering wheel, and signature floor mats of AMG.
World Premiere in November
The AMG E63 will make its world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 1-16, 2016. The arrival of the car in Mercedes-AMG showrooms is in March 2017.
