Watch the Mercedes G63 AMG Survive the Winter Testing Facility

Giancarlo Perlas November 7, 2014

A promotional video released by Mercedes-AMG via YouTube last month showed the amazing performance of the Mercedes G63 AMG in a harsh weather condition, particularly in a snowy climate. In the video above, one can see the enhanced G-Class, together with the C63 AMG and the E63 AMG S models, conquer the snow-capped mountain with its high engine output and strong traction.

The conquest was made possible by the 5.5-liter biturbo V8 engine with direct injection of the Mercedes G63 AMG. It should be noted that the engine of the vehicle is capable of delivering up to 536 hp and a whopping 561 lb-ft of torque. Of course, the iconic auto was fitted with special winter tires to improve its grip in the slippery surface. It is hard to see in the video though what tires were partnered with its wheels.

At the beginning of the video, it says it was taken in a Winter Testing Facility. According to the YouTube description of the video, which was provided by Mercedes-AMG, the exact location was at the Snow Farm in Cardona on New Zealand’s southern island. Another hint of the place of shooting can also be found in the coordinates shown at the start of the video.

The people in the short film were the country’s top professional snowboard and ski athletes. Mercedes-AMG commented in its post that the participants were gathered by Mercedes-Benz New Zealand for the event.

Mercedes really did a great job here. The location, stunts, effects, and overall cinematography of the video were indeed very breathtaking.
