A nice video made in cooperation with Jung von Matt, the leading ad agency of Daimler, shows the Actros as a taxi to show its harshest critics what are its benefits. It passed by Volvo and MAN and picked up passengers from their offices. The result was impressive, not surprisingly, because the “employees” of the competitors seem to like what they saw inside the Mercedes truck. People at the Munich airport were also fascinated by the “taxi truck”, who wouldn’t be?

Mercedes-Benz Bank is introducing a new insurance policy for the new Actros. For the first time a policy will depend on how the truck will be used. For example, if the Actros is being used for light loads and lowland areas, the insurance premiums that will be collected is 60% lower than a truck that is being used for heavy loads and in hilly areas. The information will be collected and calculated by a telematics system called FleetBoard. This insurance policy covers liability and insurance protection for all trucks equipped with FleetBoard. As if the new Actros trucks did not possess enough features to make them among the most technically advanced commercial trucks to date, Mercedes has announced that all new sales of the Actros in Europe will be fitted with the Fleetboard vehicle management system. FleetBoard EcoSupport provides drivers with analytical tools which give feedback on the driver’s driving style in real time, and provides direct feedback. The EcoSupport system gathers inputs based on criteria for economical driving, such as steady-state speed, pedal movements, use of wear-free brakes, roll behaviour and similar vehicle parameters. Mercedes-Benz’ truck, ACTROS, after it has been announced last week that it will be especially for long distance haul, has now been tested for a 10,000KM drive. Now, the official efficiency numbers of the EURO VI engine has been revealed. First off, the EURO V version runs more efficiently at 7.6% less diesel in the 10,000KM test than the current Actros 1844 BlueTec 5. However, the engine knocked the old generation’s consumption by 4.56% and offers lower emissions.
