New Mercedes-AMG A35 Sedan spy shots reveal major cosmetic updates coming up in the entry-level high-performance variant of the A-Class range. The car appears to be getting ready to transition from its “AMG lite” identity to a full-fledged AMG.

Since its unveiling, the A35 has always been denied the Panamericana grille that has defined all other AMG vehicles. Instead of the vertical slats, the high-performance A-Class starter had to settle with a twin-louver, vertical grille styling. This is coupled with subtle updates on the headlamps, taillights, and bumpers.

The AMG A35 Sedan, however, is keeping its other signature features. The spy photos from Carscoops show the vehicle keeping its dual circular exhaust tips instead of the trapezoidal design found in the more potent AMG A45. It also retains its rear bumper vents and diffuser.

There are no planned upgrades on the engine of the AMG A35 Sedan that we know of. But then again, the source said Merc may find a way to bump up the numbers by 20 hp to slightly improve the performance of the auto.

As a recap, the current version of the AMG A35 possesses a compact 2.0-liter turbo inline-four engine. The powerplant peaks at 302 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Then, it is managed via a seven-speed automatic transmission system. The configuration allows the car to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.7 seconds on its way to a max speed of 155 mph.

The spy shots don’t tell us anything about the cabin of the AMG A35. However, it’s expected to mirror the same tech elements found in the present model but with minor software upgrades to enhance their functionality and offer a better user experience.
