The latest model of the Cabriolet and E-Class Coupe of Mercedes-Benz offer a unique design, cost-effective engines and an all-new assistance system. The latest four-cylinder BlueDIrect engine of the E-Class Coupe also gives it an ecologically-friendly and efficient design due to its direct injection system. Small turbo-charged engines are gradually receiving wide acceptance in the auto industry, and it appears that Mercedes-Benz is set to join the trend. The luxury car manufacturer is reportedly replacing the E550 model with an E400 model that will feature a twin-turbo-charged V6 engine. The US market is set to see the arrival of the E400 model by fall of 2014 and will be marketed as a 2015 model vehicle. It will offer 330HP along with around 350lb-ft of torque. A press release by Daimler revealed that Mercedes-Benz sold around 94,895 units in January. The figure was 9.2% more than the overall sales of the automaker in the same month last year. Daimler attributes the increase to the rebound of its operations in China. There was a 15.4% gain in the Chinese market alone as compared to January 2012, which translates to 16,695 units sold. Next to China is North America where the sales scored 24,783 units, which is around 10% more than January last year. After revealing the freshened up E-Class sedan and wagon, Mercedes has removed the wraps off the coupe and cabriolet versions. Although the public will see these models at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show, actual showroom models will be available only after a few more months. Styling cues taken from the sedan are aplenty, although observers will note that the fat rear haunches are reminiscent of the older E-Class.
