Mercedes-Benz Confident it will Meet 2010 Sales Goals

sclass 2010 Mercedes Benz Confident it will Meet 2010 Sales GoalsMercedes-Benz is confident that it can meet its sales projections by the end of 2010, thanks to a very strong November that saw record sales for that month due to high demand for its S-Class and E-Class sedan lines.

“We can look back on an extremely successful year so far,” stated Executive Vice President for Sales and Marketing at Mercedes-Benz Cars Dr. Joachim Schmidt. “The positive development continued in November, causing our sales to grow at a double-digit rate for the 13th month in a row. The German market played an important role in driving our growth, with sales increasing by more than one fifth.”

Mercedes’ sales for November saw 105,200 units sold, up from 88,600 sold in the same month last year—representing a 19-percent sales growth on the way to a record-breaking month. So far in 2010, the company has sold 1,059,600 vehicles globally. In 2009, the January to November period saw 914,700 vehicles sold. That’s a whopping 16-percent increase right there.

It looks like 2010 has really been a great year for Mercedes-Benz, not only in terms of sales figures. With the company continuing to get high demand from the Chinese market and with strong sales growth in Germany despite an overall decline in the market, there’s no question that the brand will be able to meet its sales target by the end of the year.

Fuel filter leak recall issued on 2011 models

Heads up, folks! If you’re driving a 2011 E-Class, GL-Class, M-Class or R-Class, then you’d better call your dealer right away. Mercedes-Benz has just issued a recall on these models due to leakage problems on their fuel filters. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says there is an o-ring on the fuel system that may not have been lubricated and installed properly, thus causing fuel to spill out.

The recall bulletin from NHTSA provides specific details on diesel variants of these models, but our friends over at The Car Connection says otherwise, confirming that the problem affects gasoline variants as well. So be warned and be safe. Your dealer should replace the problematic fuel filter free of any charge whatsoever. It should be out publicly sometime before December. For your safety’s sake, call your dealer right now. You’ll never know when that bit of fuel catches fire from a cigarette stub.

We’ve all seen how fire chases a trail of leaked fuel. If you’re a fan of Bruce Willis in Die Hard, you should be able to recall how John McClane brought down, or blew up rather, a plane at mid takeoff. How did he do that? Well, he conveniently opened up the fuel door cap on the left wing and let out the fuel. He then jumped off the plane and set fire to the trail. This isn’t meant to scare you folks. It’s just a reminder of the hazards of fuel leaks.

Five Mercedes-Benz cars emerge victorious in AutoScout24 survey

Thanks to almost 230,000 voters from all over the world who cast their choice for Europe’s most popular car, three Mercedes-Benz vehicles were chosen in an online survey by Europe’s biggest automobile marketplace on the Internet, none other than AutoScout24. So far, the web company has done nine surveys with great response from their avid visitors.

So which car came up on top as Europe’s most favorite car? It’s unanimous—the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG super car is without any contention the most adored and wished for European car in the market today, being voted out of almost 1.8 million candidates.

Cutting edge quality German engineering can only be credited partially for such an honor. It’s the blood, sweat and tears that this premium car company has shed over the decades to garner such a loyal following. Not to mention the history that surrounds the SLS AMG, which brings you back to the 1950′s when an iconic sports car was made legendary in the form of the original 300 SL Gullwing.

And so, with its rich heritage and technological prowess, the SLS AMG won sans rival in all three categories. This includes the super sports car and coupe categories.

Celebrating victory with the SLS AMG are the R-Class winning in the van and compact van categories, the C-Class in the medium-size category, the E-Class in the intermediate category, and the E-Class Cabrio in the cabriolet category.

New C-Class rounding the Nurburgring

It’s been a while since we last wrote about the facelifted C-Class. Well, here’s the saloon variant making rounds on infamous Nurburgring. In case you’re wondering, this is the track that gave the new CLS is first ever recorded crash, as well as the SLS AMG GT3′s first fiasco on a track on its racing debut. You can see that this test car has been lightly disguised to reveal subtle visual enhancements up front, most notably taking cues from the brand-new E-Class range—the headlamps, the well-contoured bonnet and the redesigned bumper.

Now, if you peek at the rear end, you’ll find even less enhancements, limited to the bumper and the taillights. What matters more is what’s going to be sitting under the hood. The engine options will probably be modified versions of the current four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines, plus an optional seven-speed automatic tranny from the conventional five-speed gearbox. Meanwhile, the 3.5-liter V6 that’s currently powering the C350 CGI will most probably make way for a reworked version from Mercedes-Benz’s new family of MoVe engines.

Now, if you’re eager to see the enhanced C-Class Saloon and Estate variants, then you have to make plans for being present at the Detroit Motor Show come January next year. Because, there will be another highlight apart from the two—the new C-Class Coupe—to succeed both the CLC and CLK. This Coupe will probably be the basis of the new C63 AMG model, which is aimed to rival the BMW M3, and maybe even a Black Series for hard knocks. Just don’t expect a Cabrio, folks.
