The W06 will be replaced by the Mercedes F1 W07 this 2016 Formula One season.

The first Formula One race of the 2016 season is fast approaching. As of last Friday, February 18, Mercedes-AMG Petronas finally let loose its next championship car during a Promotional Event at Silverstone.

According to Daimler, the new Mercedes F1 W07 Hybrid left the garage for the testing a 10:15 AM. The car was driven by the two decorated drivers of Mercedes—starting with Nico Rosberg, then the reigning Drivers’ Champion Lewis Hamilton.

On what the source described to be as a cold but clear day at the Northhamptonshire circuit, the Mercedes F1 car completed a run totalling 98.2 km.

Unfortunately, no photos of the car were provided by Daimler yet. There are no other sources for the images too at present. However, those who wish to see the car in the flesh will have to attend or tune in at its public unveiling in Barcelona this coming Monday, February 22.

The report said the event starts at around 8:15 CET. If you can’t be at the venue, you can still watch the official public unveiling of the car in the sports channels of your cable TV or through streaming in the team’s social media channels or media site. Alternatively, you can just watch out for coverage in your favorite automotive news sites, or yours truly, BenzInsider.

The regular practice will commence after. Hamilton will be taking the helm of the Mercedes F1 W07 Hybrid in the first and third days of the event. Rosberg takes over during the second and fourth days.
