Lewis Hamilton comes back stronger by winning the Formula 1 British Grand Prix after he failed to win the previous race in Austria. The sixth victory of the Briton in the UK marks another milestone in his career because he is now the driver with the most wins in his home track. Daimler, Parent Company of Mercedes, Warns About Profit Drops in 2019

Daimler AG, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz, posted a warning about a likely slump in its profits for 2019. The company blamed the numerous recalls, legal issues and low consumer demand for new cars as the reason for the drop. According to CNN, Daimler projects €1.6 billion ($1.8 billion) profit for the second quarter. The figures are a significant dive from the same period last year, which saw the company’s earnings at €2.6 billion ($2.9 billion). With that, the automaker is estimated to rake up less than the €11.1 billion ($12.5 billion) profit it recorded in 2018. Mercedes-Benz Keeps Lead in Luxury Car Segment of the Market

Mercedes-Benz wrapped the middle of 2019 with 1,134,729 luxury vehicles delivered to customers all around the world. The brand’s sales may have slipped down by 4.6% compared to the figures in the first half of 2018 but it remains as the leader in the luxury car segment of the market. Daimler attributed the slide in sales to Mercedes’ ongoing model changes in its sport utility range. SUVs are considered as the brand’s segment with the largest volume in the market. Mercedes-AMG CLA45 Gets New Look and Tuned to Reach 535 HP

The current Mercedes-Benz CLA coupe range is highlighted by the Mercedes-AMG CLA45. The 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine of the car’s high-performance AMG version is capable of 387 hp. Not content with the output of its engine, Polish tuner auto-Dynamics.pl tinkered with the vehicle’s outgoing model to raise its output to 535 hp with 472 lb-ft of torque. It should be noted that the new Mercedes CLA now comes with an AMG CLA35 version with 302 hp. It also has an AMG CLA45 variant with 387 hp and an AMG CLA45 S trim with 421 hp. New Spy Shots of 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLB45 Come Out

After the unveiling of the Mercedes-Benz GLB compact crossover SUV a month ago, its high-performance version appears to be on its way. Recently, spy shots of the Mercedes-AMG GLB45 surfaced online. The spy photos from Motor1 show the AMG GLB45 in partial camouflage. As the norm, the covered areas indicate the changes between the standard GLB model and the AMG model. With that, expect a sportier front bumper with lip spoiler, side sills, wider fenders, rear diffuser and rear spoiler in the high-performance version of the SUV. Daimler and BMW Team Up for Self-Driving Cars

Daimler just established a partnership with BMW to develop technologies for self-driving cars. The team up is expected to produce a new vehicle series in 2024. The automakers signed an agreement to mark the start of their cooperation on July 4. The two aim to jointly develop next-generation technologies for driver assistance systems, automated driving on highways and automated parking. These include sensors, joint data center for information storage, administration and processing, and the development of functions and software. Two companies are expected to expand their cooperation to higher levels of automation in urban and city settings.
