Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 Gets A Makeover From Mansory

The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 only had a two-year production run, with only a hundred units ever delivered to customers. However, it remains one of the ultra-rare gems of the G-Class range and Mercedes. Although its successor, the Mercedes-AMG G63 4×4 Squared, was also impressive in its own right, it does not exude the same level of personality that the six-wheeler has. Mansory Redesigns the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 With these in mind, it would be such a treat to see one on the roads nearly a decade since Mercedes capped off its stint. Recently, Mansory got hold of one of them and just couldn’t resist the temptation of leaving… Continue Reading »

Paddy Lowe: Mercedes F1 Made A Wrong Call In W15’s Aero

Mercedes F1’s woes are best illustrated in its dismal ranking in the sport. The team is currently held up at fourth place in the Constructors Standings, while its drivers are not even in the top six of the Drivers Standings. All these make its golden days from 2014 to 2020 seem like a distant memory nowadays. Lowe stated that he has a lot of sympathy regarding the present state of Mercedes. However, there’s no one else to blame for their predicament than “some wrong turns” they made in their cars’ aerodynamic designs. The former Mercedes Technical Director explained that the F1 teams have “incredibly sophisticated” tools, wind tunnels, Computational Fluid… Continue Reading »

AMG CLE 63 Is Going Back To Mercedes’ V8 Roots

Citing unnamed senior officials from Mercedes-Benz, Autocar claimed the Mercedes-AMG CLE 63 coupe and convertible will be adopting a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. This will be a major departure from its maker’s original plan to equip the high-performance car with a plug-in hybrid power unit copying the AMG C 63 and AMG GLC 63. Despite the V8 configuration’s lower output at 585 bhp compared to the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder plug-in hybrid unit’s 670 bhp, the sources said Mercedes is sticking with the new strategy to meet consumer demand for ICEs. It also arrives as a response to the dwindling sales of its electric vehicles (EVs) as well as the disappointing… Continue Reading »

Everrati Unveils Specs Of Electrified Mercedes-Benz SL W113 ‘Pagoda’

According to the company, one version of the electrified Mercedes-Benz SL W113 “Pagoda” holds a 54.4 kWh battery with an electric range of 160 miles based on the WLTP cycle. The other packs a 68 kWh battery capable of reaching up to 200 miles based on the same standard. The numbers will likely be cut down if the more stringent EPA cycle is applied. The battery sizes also affect the acceleration time of the EV upgrade. The smaller unit is capable of covering 0 to 60 mph in roughly eight seconds while the bigger unit could do that in under seven seconds. It appears that the key differences between variants… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz Dials Back To ICE Cars After EVs Fail To Boost Profit

Going Back to the Basics Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius revealed during the company’s annual shareholders’ meeting that they are getting their sights back on internal combustion engine (ICE) cars instead of going all-in on electric vehicles (EV). This somehow supports the earlier statements of US dealership owners and insiders that the dwindling EV sales have forced the German automaker to change its stance on its electrification target. “They’re not going to force [EVs] on the market,” an unnamed Mercedes retailer said in an interview with Automotive News. “They are going to allow the market to dictate.” The move is in line with the brand’s “Economics of Desire” business slogan wherein… Continue Reading »
