Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Vans Recalled Over Wiring Harness Issues

Around 350 units of Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans were recalled in the US due to potential problems with the wiring harnesses located in their seats. According to the German automaker, the said parts may have been incorrectly routed, which could cause their damage or short circuit. All these may consequently pose a fire hazard or malfunction in some of the electrical components of the affected vehicles. Based on the announcement, the recall affects the 2022 model-year Sprinters produced from February 17 to May 6 of the same year. The new Mercedes-Benz eSprinter van is finally out. The new product from Mercedes-Benz Vans is touted as an all-rounder vehicle with a focus on delivering energy efficiency, long range, and optimum load capacity. The new model is eyeing a rollout in the US and Canada in the second half of 2023 and Europe by the year’s end. Two plants will be handling the production of the eSprinter. Last year, Daimler was probed for its alleged emissions manipulation in its diesel units by the US Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Justice, and California State. Before judgment was made, the company was able to settle the matter off-court by paying a $2 billion settlement and with a promise to recall a quarter-million of its diesel vehicles sold in the country. The recall covers all 2009 and 2016 models including the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. The series of probes came in the aftermath of the Dieselgate scandal.
