Mercedes-Benz X-Class Given a Cosmetic and Performance Makeover

When the Mercedes-Benz X-Class was announced in 2015, everyone had high hopes in it, including yours truly. A year later, its concept was unveiled, which held a lot of promises. When its production version was finally unveiled though, it was a letdown for many because it didn’t stand out much from the Nissan Navara, which it shares a platform with and around 30% more affordable than the luxury pickup. We were still optimistic about it but before its promised higher-end trims were released, the product was axed from Mercedes’ production line. Despite its disappointing reviews and Daimler’s decision to end its production, the X-Class remained as a darling among tuners—probably… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz X-Class Gets Cosmetic Upgrades from Carlex Design

Pickup Design, the pickup division of Carlex Design, just made a total overhaul on the look of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class. The modifications further improve the off-road capabilities of the auto too. The one-off X-Class is no longer in production because Mercedes no longer considers it “economically viable”. Many tuners, including Carlex, have continued unlocking the numerous potentials of the pickup despite its discontinuation. Since 2018, we have seen Pickup Design take the X-Class to different levels. Among them were the Maybach-inspired version of the pickup and the EXY package of the company. Recently, the company released its Exy Extreme+ that introduces new exterior, interior, and mechanical upgrades to the auto…. Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz X-Class Final Edition Tuned by Carlex Design

After Daimler officially announced the discontinuation of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class, Carlex Design gave its final salute to the luxury pickup truck by unveiling a number of new accessories for it. The end of production of the X-Class pickup will come in May after just being in the market for only three years. Mercedes identified the unit as a “niche product” and cited economic feasibility as reasons for axing its production. Via its subsidiary, Pickup Design, Carlex Design unveiled its packages for the X-Class, namely the Off-Road Final Edition and the Extreme Final Edition. Both are intended for the four-cylinder and V6 models of the auto. The Off-Road Final Edition kit… Continue Reading »

Daimler Officially Ends the Production of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class

The Mercedes-Benz X-Class pickup was only introduced in 2017, but in July last year, rumors of its discontinuation came out. Sadly, it proved to be true as Daimler itself confirmed the info. According to the parent of Mercedes, the Nissan Navara-based pickup will be axed from the production line in late May. The news broke out in an interview with a Daimler representative on the Auto Motor und Sport website. The automaker said that it regularly assesses its portfolio to determine the vehicles that should remain in its production line. Unfortunately, the X-Class is the one getting the cut this year despite being a “relatively young” product. Mercedes stated that… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz X-Class Gets Tuned To An Almost G-Class Form

In the past two years since Mercedes-Benz came out with the X-Class, we’ve seen some modifications of this utilitarian vehicle. Based on the platform of the Nissan Navara, the Mercedes-Benz X-Class was a bit underwhelming design-wise because everyone was expecting it to be a more rugged version of the G-Class 4×4². Fortunately, German tuner delta4x4 decided to develop a package that can turn the X-Class into an off-road-ready machine. This is the same company that showed its beefy Mercedes G-Class last month. This time, the package is tailored to the X-Class. The tuner can jack up the body and increase the suspension travel to make the pickup truck more competent… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz X-Class Turned Into A Bad Boy Off-Roader

When the production version of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class was introduced, everyone was in agreement that it was nothing like the concept it was based on. Although the X-Class is as plush as a mid-sized pickup truck can get, that is not what we’re expecting from an off-roader the German automaker boasted about. Fans and pundits alike were expecting to see the Powerful Adventurer, as the concept was fittingly dubbed. In that concept, the X-Class was painted in a shade of matte yellow and features many off-road capabilities. Thankfully, tuner Pickup Design picked up from where Mercedes left off and finished the job that should have been the X-Class all along…. Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz X-Class to be Axed from the Production Line

The Mercedes-Benz X-Class received a warm welcome when it was introduced, and we certainly had high hopes with it. In its bid to tap into the pickup truck segment of the market, its maker even expanded the range to include a more powerful model equipped with a V6 engine. Despite the best efforts of Mercedes, the demand for the auto proved to be weak, and that puts its future into question. According to Automotive News Europe, only 16,700 units of the X-Class were sold in Europe, Australia, and South Africa. The source said that it was below the expectations set by Mercedes’ parent, Daimler. It also failed to generate enough… Continue Reading »
