The Mercedes-Benz GLC Hits Dealerships in China

The Mercedes-Benz GLC is now available in China. According to the CarNewsChina website, the price range of the SUV is at 396,000 and 579,000 yuan or $62,000 to $90,580. This GLC is locally-made by Beijing-Benz, a joint venture between Beijing Automotive Group and Daimler AG, wherein the companies own 50% each in its shares. It should be noted that the company used to make the GLK, the GLC’s predecessor, as well as the GLA. As part of the partnership of Mercedes-Benz with the BAIC Group, production of the Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV has started, as shown on a report from worldcarfans.com. Production of the GLC SUV at the assembly plant of the joint venture in Beijing comes six months after local production of the GLA-Class began. The Mercedes-Benz R-Class is staging a comeback. But this time, it will be targeted exclusively for customers in China. According to CNBC, the assembly of the R-Class recently commenced at the AM General assembly plant located in Mishakawa, Indiana. It was the same facility that built the Hummer H2 from 2002 to 2009. Mercedes-Benz Performs Well Amid the Turbulence in Chinese Market

Notwithstanding the current turbulence in the luxury car segment of China, Mercedes-Benz posted a two-digit percentage increase in its sales there in July. According to a report on Bloomberg, the three-pointed star brand recorded a 42 percent increase in deliveries in the giant Asian country. The sales of Mercedes in the region amounted to 29,540 cars.
