Edition 507 Of C63 AMG Goes On Sale

As you will probably surmise, the number 507 in AMG’s special edition C63 is the amount of horsepower you will get when (if you’re lucky) you buy one. First seen last March at the Geneva International Motor Show, the edition 507 is available in Coupe, Saloon and Estate models. In Germany prices will be from 84,000-86,000 Euros, depending on the body type. Whatever style you choose though, there will no mistaking those aggressive lines, humongous intakes and quad exhausts as anything but necessary additions to a roadgoing monster. To  get that extra 50 horsepower over the standard C63s, AMG outfitted the 6.3 liter V8 with upgraded pistons and conrods,… Continue Reading »

A 45 AMG Trailer Teases More Details

We’ve seen the pictures and now we see the video. Courtesy of the official Mercedes-AMG Youtube channel, we get glimpses of the A 45 AMG in action, both on a winding road and on track. Of course, this is a teaser video, so don’t expect any head-to-head action. Probably using the same unit as the ones we saw in the static pics, Mercedes-AMG further shows glimpses of the cockpit, the switchgear and the driver snicking up the gears using the paddle shifters. Although an all-wheel driver, AMG has apparently given the A 45 a 67/33 distribution bias, to help emulate a proper rear-driver when the driver feels the need for… Continue Reading »

mchip-dkr Gives The C63 AMG A Hefty Power Boost

Looking like an art car reminiscent of the ones popularized by BMW, German tuner mcchip-dkr has managed to turn the already great C63 AMG into a car that packs both a visual and a performance wallop. Upon first sight of this tuner car, what grabs your eye are the decidedly eye-catching graphics, courtesy of CoverEFX. While the graphics package will definitely be loathed by some, it does give the beastly C63 AMG a whimsical look that will make you think that it’s a cute designer car with fancy 20-inch wheels. Which would be a terrible mistake. Because underneath that whimsical exterior is a powerplant that ups the ante from the… Continue Reading »

Mercedes Releases Official Pics Of A45 AMG

Seen in lightly-camouflaged guise late last year, the A 45 AMG has finally been revealed officially by Mercedes-Benz. As revealed by the cutaway, we can see a transverse-mounted four with a turbo. Elsewhere on the net, rumors say that this little jewel will displace 2 liters and have an output in the region of 360 hp. We can also see the all-wheel drive layout. A 7-speed dual-clutch transmission should be a reality, with Mercedes’ Race Start function as a feature. Although the wheels don’t seem to be wide enough for a car that wears the AMG badge, the AWD drivetrain should take care of assuring very high levels of traction…. Continue Reading »

Diamler Partner Fuso Posts 18% Sales Growth

In an industry where low single-digit sales bumps are trumpeted as significant gains, Fuso’s 18% sales growth cannot be described as anything less than stellar. Daimler’s Asian commercial vehicle subsidiary posted these figures as a result of selling 174,600 commercial vehicles last year. Fuso is planning 40 market launches this year to help propel it towards its “Fuso 2015” goal of selling 200,000 vehicles annually. Outside its home country of Japan, Fuso sold almost 140,000 trucks and buses for a sales increase of 15%. Sales were strongly driven by the continued growth in Southeast Asia, as well as in the Near and Middle East and Africa. Southeast Asia, and… Continue Reading »

CLA 2-door Coupe Rendering By T. Chin

As any Mercedes-Benz fan will have noticed by now, the German automaker’s focus is on small but quality luxury cars, which was begat by the A-Class platform. This has now been superseded by models based on the MFA platform, which underpins both the current A- and B-Classes in all is various guises. But despite an AMG version of the CLA which will feature a 330 horsepower engine and all-wheel drive, the body style looks to remain as a 4-door, for the evident practicality that a small platform dictates. That does not prevent some talented artists like Theophilus Chin from giving us a visual rendering of what a 2-door CLA could… Continue Reading »

2013 Widestar Another Version Of Shock And Awe

It’s not really a surprise that Brabus chose the Qatar Motor Show to introduce their latest over-the-top creation.  In that region of the world, a high performance SUV is just the ticket to overpower those endless dunes and wide open highways in luxurious comfort. Called the Brabus 800 Widestar, it’s a monster G65 with a motor puffing out 800 horsepower. Two years ago, Brabus had already released a Widestar, but this was based on a G55. With the Brabus-fettled G65, the luxury tuner has moved the bar of the luxury SUV up to a level that few, if any, can equal. Mercedes cognoscenti know that the G65 already has a… Continue Reading »
