Videos Show the Resiliency of the Smart Fortwo

One of the key selling points of the Smart Fortwo is its ultra-durable tridion safety cell. Basically, the feature has been patented by Daimler’s Smart division to offer maximum protection to the electric vehicle’s occupants, which comes in addition to the safety functions provided by the car’s seatbelts and airbags. According to the Smart website, the tridion safety cell is inspired by roll cages found in racecars. It is made of high-strength steel, which is engineered to evenly distribute the force from a crash. The 2016 Smart Fortwo and Forfour finally make their official public appearance. The two electric vehicles appeared to have significant improvements in terms of design with a more stylish hood and new LED headlights. BMW Catches Up with Mercedes-Benz in U.S. Sales

The Mercedes-Benz CLA remains as the best-selling range of the three-pointed star brand. BMW finally caught with Mercedes-Benz in U.S. sales. According to Automotive News, the change in trend was influenced by the cheaper models and fashionable crossover vehicles of the three-pointed star brand’s rival. Based on the report, BMW increased its sales by 17 percent last month, thanks to the 81 percent leap of its SUVs and crossovers. Particularly, the X3 unit sales doubled to 5,723 compared from last year. On the other hand, Mercedes-Benz only showed a 7.7 percent growth to 26,617 deliveries. Car2go completes year one in Seattle

Daimler’s carsharing service car2go, powered by smart vehicles, just celebrated its first year in Seattle. The service operates 500 smart fortwo units in the area, and it is already the largest as well as the fastest-growing car2go city in the US. Launched in December 2012, car2go Seattle now has over 40,000 people registered to the service who share the 500 fortwo vehicles as they go from point to point within the city.
