Spectacular design, technology transfer from the world of motorsport and driving dynamics at the highest level; the new Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series embodies the new AMG brand claim, Driving Performance, like no other AMG model. The new high-performance vehicle is the most powerful C-Class of all time, boasting a maximum output of 380 kW (510 bhp) and a maximum torque of 620 newton metres. The AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine impresses with its hefty torque, tremendous pulling power and responsiveness, and ensures high-calibre performance: the C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds (all data provisional). Exclusive fun at the wheel comes courtesy of the adjustable AMG coil-over sports suspension, the AMG high-performance compound braking system and the functional standard equipment. The AMG Track Package is available as an option to enhance driving dynamics even further. It boasts sports tyres and active rear-axle transmission cooling, plus the AMG Aerodynamics package including flics, a functionally tuned front splitter and an adjustable carbon-fibre rear aerofoil.

Broad, low, brawny and ready to pounce from a standstill – the C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series makes a mighty impression. It’s clear right from the first time you set eyes on it that the C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series is made for ambitious laps on a closed-off race track. In visual terms the new high-performance vehicle is reminiscent of the SLS AMG GT3 customer sports car and symbolises the transfer of technology from the sphere of motorsport, which has been part of the corporate philosophy of Mercedes-AMG GmbH for 44 years now.

The C63 AMG Black Series under spy camera

Spy photos are in showing what looks like the upcoming Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series model. The photos show what seems to be a four-door muscle car galloping along snowy urban roads. The rest of the photos, meanwhile, show what appears to be the next C63 AMG Coupe looking like it has been lured over to the dark side of the force.

Close analysis of past Black Series model by Mercedes-Benz shows a two-fold design principle that’s quite simple to digest—a lot more horsepower plus better handling dynamics through design innovations such as lightweight construction materials and a wider wheel track.

Meanwhile, the C63 AMG Coupe is forecasted to deliver around 451 of mind-numbing horsepower, so perhaps, if a Lord Darth Vader version ever comes out, it should easily break past the 500-hp barrier. Weight, we assume, can be shed off using even more slender front bucket seats for improved ride stability behind the wheel as well as throwing out the rear passenger seat. Besides, would you really want someone sitting in your back seat while pushing this baby through a corner? Probably not. So we think that would be the best way to up the ante of this already fascinating machine. Only time will tell for now. Stay tuned folks!

Official: The new C63 AMG Coupe with 451hp

2012 C63 AMG Coupe 1 medium 597x398 Official: The new C63 AMG Coupe with 451hp
The new 2012 C63 AMG Coupe designed by Mercedes-AMG combines distinctive design with a powerful drivetrain and dynamic handling. The new coupe joins the successful C63 AMG Sedan as well as the AMG family of coupes which includes the CLS63 AMG and the CL63AMG. The new coupe makes its U.S. showroom debut in September 2011.

The AMG 6.3-liter V8 engine in the C63 AMG Coupe delivers a maximum output of 451 hp and peak torque of 443 lb-ft. Reflecting its outstanding performance, the coupe is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph (electronically limited). With these specifications, the new two-door vehicle is poised to take the lead in its segment.

The new coupe shares all the technology updates from the 2012 C63 AMG Sedan and features the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission with standard “Controlled Efficiency” mode, and a new power steering pump that helps to reduce fuel consumption.

The all-new CL Coupe unsheathed in Australia

We just can’t help but notice the subtle similarities between the new CLS and the 2011 CL-Class Coupe, as it was unearthed at the Australian International Motor Show by none other than Mercedes-Benz Australia.

The new CL will have a different powerplant—a 4.7-liter V8—replacing the retiring CL 500′s 5.5-liter V8. This new engine, despite its being smaller than the old CL’s powerplant, is capable of delivering more power at less expense to both the driver and the environment. So despite the new CL’s subtle external makerover, it does get more than it bargained for in the form of a much more reliable and fuel efficient engine featuring BlueDIRECT technology.

If you look over at its front, you won’t miss its obviously-SLS-inspired grille, so that says a lot about Mercedes-Benz’s design current design philosophy. And did we mention there are subtle similarities with the new CLS? The headlamps, for example, although missing the mid-LED strip on the CLS, is a stark semblance. And so are the muscular rear quarter panels which give obvious hints of the power driving the rear wheels. The front bumper has been redesigned while the daytime LED running lights are capped over by a reworked hood.

We can’t say we’re not as excited about the new CL as we were about the new CLS, having Stop-Start and Brake Energy Recovery technologies. The 320kW of power and 700Nm of torque ain’t bad either. We like. Do you?

New C-Class rounding the Nurburgring

Mercedes Benz 61010101259242231600x1060 597x395 New C Class rounding the Nurburgring

It’s been a while since we last wrote about the facelifted C-Class. Well, here’s the saloon variant making rounds on infamous Nurburgring. In case you’re wondering, this is the track that gave the new CLS is first ever recorded crash, as well as the SLS AMG GT3′s first fiasco on a track on its racing debut. You can see that this test car has been lightly disguised to reveal subtle visual enhancements up front, most notably taking cues from the brand-new E-Class range—the headlamps, the well-contoured bonnet and the redesigned bumper.

Now, if you peek at the rear end, you’ll find even less enhancements, limited to the bumper and the taillights. What matters more is what’s going to be sitting under the hood. The engine options will probably be modified versions of the current four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines, plus an optional seven-speed automatic tranny from the conventional five-speed gearbox. Meanwhile, the 3.5-liter V6 that’s currently powering the C350 CGI will most probably make way for a reworked version from Mercedes-Benz’s new family of MoVe engines.

Now, if you’re eager to see the enhanced C-Class Saloon and Estate variants, then you have to make plans for being present at the Detroit Motor Show come January next year. Because, there will be another highlight apart from the two—the new C-Class Coupe—to succeed both the CLC and CLK. This Coupe will probably be the basis of the new C63 AMG model, which is aimed to rival the BMW M3, and maybe even a Black Series for hard knocks. Just don’t expect a Cabrio, folks.
