Mercedes Eschews R1234yf Refrigerant In Favor Of R134a

Although even GM has come to the defense of Dupont in declaring the refrigerant R1234yf safe for use in passenger vehicles, Mercedes continues to stand by its contention that R1234yf can be flammable in certain real-world conditions. Late last year, Mercedes-Benz published the results of its tests, where a head-on collision ruptured the AC lines of the test vehicle, spewing the contents on the hot engine. This combination caused a fire which obviously left the German manufacturer uncomfortable and concerned. Is Daimler Exploring Producing Mercedes-Benz Cars in Mexico with Nissan?

Daimler is said to be eyeing joint car production with Nissan in Mexico, according to reports. It seems the German company is looking into various options to get production of certain Mercedes-Benz cars, such as the A-Class, through Nissan facilities in the country. According to a Daimler official who wishes to remain anonymous, the joint production in Mexico has a good chance of pushing through. A-Class Launching in India Pushes Through, Prices of the New Car Revealed

In a follow up report, the A-Class hatchback is finally lunched in India. According to the India-based The Economic Times, the debut of the new class in the country took place in a Mumbai showroom. The price of the new car is at Rs 21.93 lakh (approximately $39,000) up to Rs 22.73 lakh (estimated as $40,000). The most fuel efficient in the variant is the one equipped with 2.2-liter diesel engine, which is priced Rs 21.93 lakh. New A-Class and B-Class to be Launched in India this May 30

  With the sales of Mercedes-Benz India looking great, the brand is releasing two variants in the territory on May 30. The new car will be under the A-Class and B-Class category. Based on a report by the Indian auto news site called Car Dekho, buyers of the new A-Class premium hatchback will have two engine options to choose from. One will have a 1.6-liter petrol and the other will be equipped with a 1.8-liter turbo diesel engine. Then, it will have a 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. On the other hand, the new B-Class will only be available in a 1.8-liter turbo diesel engine.

Daimler Recalls All New Models of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class

Daimler is recalling the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class models, says a new report from Bloomberg Businessweek. According to the report, the recall is due to the faulty airbags of the new cars. Wolfgang Zanker, a spokesperson for the company, explained through the news source that the passenger airbags of the new models of the A-Class have the tendency not to inflate properly in the time of an accident. He added that the problem is estimated to have affected around 6,000 cars in Germany where most of the vehicles were sold.
