Russian Winter Olympics medalists get rewarded with Mercedes-Benz vehicles

The recently concluded 2014 Winter Olympics held in Sochi, Russia, saw the host country bag the overall crown on the strength of 33 medals: 13 gold medals, 11 silver, and nine bronze. Aside from getting cash, medal winners also received different Mercedes-Benz vehicles for their victories. Bronze medalists received GLK-Class units worth around $59,500, while silver medalists took home ML-Class vehicles worth around $99,500. Of course, gold medalists got the best prize: a GL-Class SUV worth upwards of $146,500. All in all, the country provided 45 total vehicles for the athletes responsible for winning 33 medals. A new spy shot by WorldCarFans revealed a new Mercedes-Benz vehicle that could very well be the next-generation GLK.  The vehicle’s large frame easily gives away its model. Larger and More Sporty A few months ago, Mercedes introduced the 2014 GLA which was also crossover. In order to be distinct from it, the Mercedes GLK spy shots show that it will carry with it a larger size. In addition, it revealed that the next-generation Mercedes auto will have a more stretched and wider wheelbase than its predecessor. Mercedes-Benz Gets Strong Sales in Canada Last Month

Today, Mercedes-Benz Canada released its sales report for the month of May. So far, it showed a strong performance of the brand in the country. According to Canada Newswire, a grand total of 3,300 Mercedes-Benz, Sprinter and Smart cars were sold last month in Canada. This year marks a total of 14,028 units sold via the MB Canadian retail network alone. There was a recorded figure of 2,820 units retailed for the passenger cars luxury light trucks sold in the country. The breakdown is as follows: 1,618 passenger car units were sold while the luxury light truck’s side accounted for the remaining 1,202. Price Of 2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK250 Bluetec Revealed

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK250 Bluetec will finally become available in dealerships one year after it was initially unveiled during the New York Auto Show in 2012. The base price of the GLK250 is at $38,590 although a destination charge of $905 is not yet included. Buyers who are looking to purchase the gas-powered variant of the compact diesel crossover will have to pay another $1,500 over the base price of the luxury vehicle. The 2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK250 Bluetec will feature a four-cylinder 2.1-liter diesel engine that produces 200HP and a torque of 369 lb-ft. The vehicle also features the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. Mercedes-Benz GLK Coupe to Hit Market in 2016?

If reports are to be believed, there’s a new Mercedes-Benz model in the works: an alleged GLK Coupe that’s supposed to be available come 2016. According to the reports, the model should compete in the mid-sized SUV segment and is slotted as a direct rival to the Q5 and the X3. This new GLK Coupe, or GLC, should be among the first to bear Mercedes-Benz’s MRA platform. In addition, it’s going to be released together with the GLK’s second generation. Mercedes-Benz September Sales Jump 7% in the US, Pads Lead on BMW

Thanks to strong September sales figures that jumped 7 percent compared to the same month last year, Mercedes-Benz was able to pad its lead over German rival BMW. So far, Mercedes-Benz leads by 5,221 vehicles in its bid to claim the title of number 1 luxury car brand in the United States. According to a statement by the automaker, the strong sales can be attributed to the updates on the GLK compact SUV and the C-Class compact sedan. This helped the company reach 23,156 total units delivered in the US last month, compared to the 21,761 units BMW sold over the same period. As if the fresh, crisp lines of the Mercedes GLK were not enough, this design house out of Russia decided to treat a GLK to a blue chrome finish. Vinyl wraps have become an established way to give your car a different look in a matter of hours, and this treatment has been done from pedestrian commuters to exotics.
